Frozen Screen During Calls

My OS got updated to 2.29 recently, and since then my Desire has been behaving a bit strangely... the most annoying aspect is that during a call after the screen has gone black, I often can't wake it up again unless the other person hangs up. So this means I can't hang up unless I pull the battery out, and I can't use services that need keypad input!

Has anyone seen this before, and got an idea how I can fix it?

if its just after an upgrade, it would be a simple factory reset that is needed, but let's face it, nobody likes doing them.
