Root ftp file sharing

Ok, so I have been using file expert as my main file manager and I love it. I have been using the ftp file sharing feature to transfer files from my PC to my nook. I can also browse the files on my wifes nook with my nook. However, I cannot seem to be able to view my PC files with file expert. I have my windows sharing turned on, guest account on with no password. In the network section of File expert, I have tried entering the IP address in all of the available options but it keeps saying I cannot open this folder. After doing some internet searching I saw that windows XP home edition does not natively support ftp. Sooooo I down loaded Serve_U, and installed it on my PC. Got everything set up for access, and tried to connect with the file expert ftp... My server logs on my PC show my nook connected with the username that I had set up, and then immediately disconnected again. I cannot seem to get it to establish a stable connection. I have even tried turning off windows firewall. All I want to be able to do is to browse my PC files on my nook, anybody got any ideas?

My setup: windows XP home, Serv_u 11.1.0.7, one user with no password.
Nook color 2, cyanogen mod 7.2 mirage, file expert 4.1

Windows file sharing does not use FTP protocol. If you want to make your Windows files available to FTP clients, you'll need to run an FTP server.

I have tried the samba sharing function but when it scans for computers nothing ever comes up. Using the Serv-u program on my PC and the sftp connection with file expert, is the only thing that has worked.
