Root fully bricked?

Zatticus

Lurker
So I just got a new i727R .

In my infinite cleverness I decided I was ready to go ahead and try rooting my phone.

spent hours trolling forums for different methods.

I get to understand Odin, CF's TAR file, using kies to make sure drivers installed.

My firmware est 2.6.35.11
XU?KJ7

I couldnt find any KJ7 TAR files on the list, but I recalled reading in some forums that previous KJ versions would work, so I downloaded KJ3.

ran Odin,
located PDA file,
put phone in download mode,
plugged in,
Odin reconized and I clicked start. program ran, seemed to pause, then said FAIL. I tried again. same thing.

Unplugged phone to restart and see if anything happened(phone did not reboot automatically), or if I had messed anything up.

upon reboot, I get what I understand to be known as "the black screen of death" :(

I have tried the 3 button method for recovery and to get back into download mode.

For both, after a full 8 second hold, the phone vibrates 4 times, then comes back to the same screen.

*----After posting this in the wrong forum I have come to realize I had downloaded wrong TAR file, thinking that I had the international model, and just a newer firmware number.

So basically I flashed my i727R with a KJ3 TAR file for the i9100 version.-----*

How screwed am I?
Can I try flashing a different(the proper) kernel from the screen of death?
Can I get a recovery code for Kies and try that?
How long does Samsung usually take for servicing if I am screwed.

Many thanks in advance :confused::confused:

As a final measure, I just downloaded stock TAR, and followed instructions in sticky for fixing soft brick even though I couldnt get to download mode.

It worked!!

followed proper instructions for rooting my model and I am now good to go!!

I love this forum!! :)

thanks K0nane and all involved!!
