I purchased a box of those little individually wrapped towelettes.
The instructions said:
Open the package by carefully tearing along the dotted line, remove the moistened, pre-scented towelette, unfold, and use.
And use? Come on, after those other verbose instructions?

I didn't have a party line either. My wife's family shared a line when we were dating. I can still remember the guys name who would get on the line and raise hell because we had the line tied up.

THis reminds me of a (supposedly true) story told to me by a London police officer. The was a flasher in a local park and a young female detective was bait for then flasher - well, he did indeed show what he'd got, but she just said " That's nothing, mu husband's twice the man you are". Which deflated more than his ego.
