Funny this is a smartphone but...

Android OS on Verizon doesn't even have verified text messaging...my girlfriend on her crappy phone with no camera and is the size of my pinky (little to no exaggeration there) tells her when I open and read her text messaging...if it works one way already what the hell is VZ waiting for? Get on HTC's ass or do some type of OTA and let us enjoy this feature
 
haha thats very true never thought about that dont really have that problem though pretty much everyone i txt wants to txt back but thats me. I know what you mean though for sure.
 
Actually, there is a setting to turn this on or off. It looks like it's off by default, but if you go to Messages>hit Menu>Settings the first option there is to turn on Delivery reports (there is also a second option for this under MMS seperately).

didnt work, it just shows an envelope with an I on it even after my GF has read them

I didnt even know there was verified text messaging so you certainly aren't preaching to any choir man.

I dont want to know that people saw my text and ignored it anyways. Let's keep it simple

It doesn't mean the person actually read the message. It's just a delivery notification which means their phone received the message. You have no way to tell if they've read it yet or if they ever actually read it.
 
people were always so paranoid with this on Blackberry Messenger too. "well, it said "R" but you never got back to me!!" "uh, yeah, that was a f&ckin' hint"

hahaha - exactly why no one should have that on their phones! its not face book. im rebelling text confirmation.

Exactly.

It does NOT mean the message has been read. There is no way to tell, it just means that it was successfully delivered to their phone.
