Help G-Note 1 Running Out of Device Storage

Hi all,
I want to ask, are device memory and usb storage is different? why it seperate? my device memory is 2gb and usb memory is 10gb. both are internal memory ..why both memory not joined together because both are internel memory ..if device memory(2gb) was full, can I install another app because still has usb storage ..confius about this :(

Hi All,

I am having unrooted Samsung Galaxy GTN7000 device.
Following is the memory status in my device

Device Memory:
Total: 1.97 GB
Available Space: 229 MB

USB Storage:
Total: 11.07 GB
Available Space: 229 MB

SD Card:
Total: 14.83 GB
Available Storage: 441 MB

Whenever I try to install a new app or update an existing one, I am getting the "Insufficient Storage" error. When I googled this, I find this issue has affected almost all the android devices. But there are solutions as well to this issue.

Solution-1: Uninstall the latest updates for the "Google Play Services" and then try to update or install a new app from playstore.

Solution-2: Since I have a samsung device, I can dial the MMI code: *#9900# to bring up the "SysDump" screen and select the option "Delete dumpstate/logcat" to clear the logs from internal memory.

I have followed the solution-1 and I am currently able to update the apps.

However, I want to know about this "dumpstate/logcat".

What is this log used for? Where is it located? If I delete this, what will be effect of this delete operation on my device?

I do find a directory "/sdcard/logs" containing 97 log files whose total size is 1.43 GB (via ES Explorer). Does the logcat in sysdump refers to this directory.

Any information regarding this logcat will be great....

Regards,
K.Ramesh Karthik.

OK soooo.... for idiots like myself who just spent 30 minutes trying to get the keyboard to come up without a text box prompt so I could type in *#9900# ... you have to dial it in PHONE. Just in case anyone else out there is wondering!!

I tried the "delete dumpstate/logcat," and it didn't give me more storage space on my Note 4 (not rooted). However, I deleted the cache for all my apps and got 12G back!

Go to Settings > General > Storage. Click on Cached data after it's done calculating. This will clear the cache (not the data) in all your apps.
