Hoping some more folks speak up about this as I was just about to post the same topic!
I'm looking for something pretty stripped down, no 3G contracts, and easy to mod. Office Depot is selling them for $380 which I think is completely reasonable. Obviously few if any have had much hands on with the Xoom, but I'm wondering how performance is (obviously with custom ROMs)? Really just looking to do some web browsing, email and perhaps e-reading. Certainly don't want to drop $500+ when my W7 laptop does just fine for just over that price. I can always tether with my Droid when on the road too.
Does this sound like plenty of a reason to drop some coin now, or what for Moto to release some locked-down mutha of a tablet?
The gtab is really good. The tegra 2 and the RAM makes this tab super smooth especially when a custom rom is installed. The gtab is a value tablet and the xoom is a premium tablet. If you got the money and really need a tablet, then I would go for the xoom but if you don't. The gtablet is a great device to pass the time until tablet prices stablize and there's more options.
If you want to see the screen, there's a couple of videos showing you how the screen and viewing angles look. IMO its not the greatest but its decent.
If I were you two, I would sign up for sears and office depots mailing list. Sometimes you get coupons or discounts that you can use to buy the gtab.
