Help G. Wallet on phone not synced w/ Wallet online?

Posted this in the Apps forum a couple days ago with no bites; anyone here experiencing the same?

Google Wallet on my Galaxy Nexus seems to be completely independent of my long-standing wallet.google.com account. I'm wondering if my account settings are crossed up, or is this supposed to be this way?



That is to say, I've plugged my Citi Mastercard into GW on my phone, and all is OK, but when I go to the wallet.google.com website (which even features a GNex Wallet / PayPass splash page), I see only my Discover card that's linked to that account for my Android Market purchases.

It's as if they're two completely separate, unrelated systems, where there's no evidence online that my phone account exists.
 
Good question, I "think" this is one of those things hasn't completely ironed out yet.

I know if you purchase something on a CC, Google has no knowledge of the sale, so you won't see CC purchases in the history. I'm not sure about Google prepaid(I haven't used my 10$ dollars yet)

I'm thinking Google may not have fully integrated them yet.


With the "hacks" for GW being published, I'm not so much worried about them, BUT I am somewhat concerned about the lack of a remote disable for GW. (at least I couldn't find one when I went looking yesterday.)

I still think GW is the future, even with it security issues its still as safe if not MUCH safer then standard card...
 
OK, that makes some sense from a security/privacy standpoint. I'll just have to use Citi's website for an online counterpart.

Canceling the card with Citi's 800-number would be the quickest way to disable the card in the event of theft, but the hitch is I would need the card in my wallet to have quick access to the info, and that partially defeats the security of carrying the PIN-protected "card" in my Google wallet.

You can just lookup their phone number online and they can find your account number. I had to do that once away from home. If you have multiple Citi cards, they can find the one and disable it.
 
It is because Google Wallet is not 'officially' supported by the VZW version of the phone (at least that was what I was told by a Google/Google Wallet tech support over the phone).
 
Just a hunch that the lack of Verizon-sanctioned support is the problem. In my case, I signed up for my Google Wallet account many years ago, and I side-loaded Wallet onto my Nexus prior to whatever recent developments allowed it to appear on Market.

that doesn't make any sense... I think he gave you the classic "say something to get them off the phone" thing...

Maybe. But it isn't on the market for the Verizon version (without sideloading it or some other trick) and Google Wallet's online account doesn't register a single purchase made using GW with your phone. Also, switching phones loses all account information.

Based on these things, I'd say GW ISN'T supported by the VZW version.

Oh, I thought is was finally made available in the market a week or two ago? Nevertheless, I'd be interested to hear from a user of the GSM version if they have the same lack of integration.

It doesn't show in the market.

You can get it installed via some type of quirk by going to the web version on your phone, finding it, signing in a certain way, seeing the GN as incompatible, back out then load the market, find it and install. It won't show via a regular market search OR if you make any mistakes in the above steps.

Can you get it installed? Yes. Is it readily available for the VZW GN? Not without sideloading or following a series of steps to get it done.

I have no info on the GSM version though
 
Huh! I'll have to go back and check those stories I read. In my case, side loading was practically a two click process using a Droid-Life link directly from my ICS+ browser. Been working perfectly ever since.

When I activated my work email account (Exchange) on the GNx, I had to grant IT folks permissions for a remote wipe and more, so I wonder what information/apps/files they could actually remotely wipe out. There is also Prey Project which is a lost-phone reporting service and more, but no remote wipe as far as I know. Remote wipe plus location tracking would be a great security combination, with G Wallet and all on our GNxs.

there are programs that will track/wipe your phone, I use "where's my droid" there's a couple others also.

I just found it strange that they overlooked being able to remotely disable GW. I know I can call Citibank and have them cut that link but nothing can be done about the pre-paid card afaik
