Can we all just agree that gizmodo is garbage? The screen is just meh, really? The phone seemed laggy but it was running "some kind of demo software." I'll stop there, but the guy sounded like a douche. Now I probably won't end up with this phone, so I'm not just blindly defending it because I want it, but that was a pretty terrible write up. Do yourselves a favor and watch the pocketnow hands on video. From what I can tell, this phone flies.
 
To be fair, LG has never been known to have the greatest software on phones. Many people in the past have panned the Optimus skin as being laggy, and according to that writing, nothing has changed.
 
Yep it very well may be laggy and just a bloated mess, but every other hands on video and article has read something like, "the phone is incredibly fast, but that's to be expected with the snapdragon 800." Basically, all I'm saying is a wouldn't draw any conclusion one way or the other based off of this article.

On another note, what is the general consensus on the strength of LG's radios?
 
I have a Nexus 4 from LG, and I'd say they're fairly decent. Not as good as Motorola, but noticeably better than Samsung.

I don't like gizmodo either. They reviews are often very biased and unprofessional in my opinion. If that severe lags they noted is real issue, it sucks. But they don't seem to like LG skin in the first place, and like you said every other hands-on reviews didn't notice lag issue like them. Anyway gizmodo is not a source I trust. We need more reviews from others.
 
Yeah, generally wireless charging requires a dock to mount it on. My Nexus 4 has that capability, but I still never bought the dock to use it.
 
Verizon already carries the wireless charging pads for the DNA, so I'm sure they will just try to push those to anyone that buys the g2
 
So the G2 is compatible with LTE Advanced. When is Verizon rolling that out? I like that LG did this, keeps it from going obsolete too quickly.
 
This will be my next phone for sure.
Hardware is off the chart! As for the UI i'm not worried about it because if I don't care for it I can always just use a launcher such as Apex or Nova. Locked bootloader isn't a major issue for me. 32gb storage will be more than enough for me. I also have 75+ gigs of different cloud storage options such as dropbox/drive/gcloud/etc. etc. for stuff that isn't required to be stored on the phone itself.
I am ready to move on from my razr and can't wait to pick this device up as soon as it's available!
 
The lack of SD is discouraging...im battling the 32 gig battle with my current GNexus. And taht was with one movie on it. Watching my own movies on my phone isnt a big deal, but it would be nice if it was possible to do so..with a choice of movies on there to choose from.

But other than that, this phone has my vote so far. The locked bootloader shouldnt be an issue.. the original LG G phone was locked for vzw, but then later released as unlocked on sprint and at&t b/c they realized it was what the consumer wanted. So i believe the G2 will be unlocked this time around on all carriers..

With that said, getting the software tidbits of Moto X and others shouldnt be a problem if we have proper Dev support. We need to hypebeast this phone yall! Get the word out on Phandroid lol.
 
I like G2 so far. The software experience is a little bit concerning though. That remains to be seen in following up reviews and most importantly my own testing. But I'm cautiously optimistic from their recent phones. I think their features are more useful and simpler than what Samsung did in touchwiz. I can see Answer Me, Knock knock, guest mode are very practical and handy. Also I agree with LG on putting physical lock/volume buttons on the back where index finger goes. It also serves as camera button which I like.

The only thing Moto X has over this phone is touchless voice control, which I'm not big fan of yet. I prefer launching google now from touch screen. Although I give moto credit for coming up with X8 chipset for efficient voice processing, its overall hardware is just ok by today's standard.

But G2 really set it apart from others in terms of hardware design/features. It's not just sheer horsepower it has. It brings host of impressive things like OIS camera, 24bit sound, GRAM for efficient display, small bezel, etc.
 
I think it will be fine. Sure some area's of the UI are cluttered but whatever and i highly doubt they are going to release a phone with software that hangs and so forth. Then again with such companies anything is possible but i would like to give them the benefit that they won't let such horrible QA slip passed on something so easily discernible.
 
Being a LG Spectrum owner I can say LG/Verizon failed miserably on major updates. The ICS upgrade was supposed to be Q1 or Q2 and didn't drop until Q4. Hardware wise the phone was brilliant, the big complaint was software ( laggy, ugly UI and way overbloated). There seemed to some build inconsistency,some phones seemed to run better then others. The phones released with GB and an unlocked boot loader, but the ICS update locked it. Dev support was slow at first, but heavily increased after ICS. Radio signal has always been good for me and never had had an issue with call quality. I actually prefer my Spec over my wife's SG3 ( wasn't impressed with it at all). All in all my personal experience with LG phones and Verizon has been great and I plan on the G2 or Nexus 5. ... hope this helps
 
The software quality on LG smart-phone was less than stellar in the past. But it seems they began getting acts together starting with Optimus G, Nexus 4 last year. Hardware wise G2 is hero. Hard to find any fault except maybe no micro sd. I just hope LG doesn't drop ball on G2 software. I plan on getting it in Q4.
