G2 Mic issues

Started having a mic issue on my G2 a week ago, I can hear people, but people cant hear me unless im using Bluetooth, or speaker phone. I tried a master reset, no fix. I tried safe mode, no fix. I changed out the Mic ribbon cable, and still no fix (unless I got a bad re furbished one). The one strange thing is when I press the mic button for google voice search, the ring moves like it is getting feedback or something. Anybody have this issue or hear of something similar. Note, this started the day after I took insurance off my phone, so exchange is out. If I cant find a fix, no issues, I can live with it.

Have you had anything you poked down in the mic hole to clear out dirt or debris from hole holding back sound from entering the mic

I had a similar issue and ended up sending it back to Verizon. It wasn't dirt or anything clogging up the mic hole, especially since the Google Now prompt pulsed in sync with my voice (grey indicator rather than the usual red) but the words never appeared in the search bar.

My guess is you had a legit bad mic to start with. Remember that pesky rubber grommet when you took the mic out of the bottom of the phone? Yeah that thing can get tweaked upon reinstall and could easily block the port. I know you don't want to hear this, but I'd pull the back off, remove the cover over the daughter board and check that to make sure you have a free flowing port for sound transfer. Worst design ever on that rubber grommet. What were they trying to do make it waterproof? Eh, we know that's not the case now don't we. ;)

People who have had these phones torn apart into little pieces: takes one to know one. :D
