Root Galaxo 1.6.3 released!!

GALAXO 1.6.3

1.6.3 :
- New 2.6.9 custom kernel (netfilter, Compcache 6.2, BFS, Swap, Cgroups, VPN(tun.ko), CPU Freq : 19Mhz/710Mhz)
- Overclocking to 614Mhz/710Mhz (GalaxoConf)
- Default min freq fixed at 19Mhz (preserves battery in sleep mode)
- Dialer theme from Eclair
- Audio Volume hack
- Thresholds tunning
- Compcache tunning
- Few other things, don't remember
1.6.2
- based on JC6
1.6.1
- Restore original SMS/MMS app
- Fixed phone issue

Looks like 1.6.3 is going to be badass!! There seems to be a nice list of changes in this version! I havent tested it yet but I will as soon as i finish playing with Galaxhero haha
 
It will be released for download at 18h his time. He is on Central Europe time (GMT +2) and I am on Eastern Time (GMT -5) so i will get it at 12pm here
 
Whenever I try to restore g-apps it gets aborted. I had no problem to do it with 1.6.2, I also wipe before applying update.zip

I get the following, anyone got any tips?

-- Restoring Google apps
-- Press HOME to confirm, or
-- any other key to abort..
-- Restore started...

i just updated to jc6 and galaxo 1.6.2 a week ago and i have installed only my essentials while waiting for 1.6.3 so i didnt mind wiping
after installing 1.6.3 and setting the cpu to 710 it feels like a new phone :-)
no lag no nothing, i had alot of issues with 1.6.2 with apps hanging and lagging
but now i'm loving it
will let you know about battery time in the next few days
 
Without wipe, after enabling OC to 610mhz the phone feels snappier. Usually I wipe before update so it's difficult to compare, but I think this is more trustworthy.
 
something strange
when i'm in a call i cant get the dialpad up and when i use the menu key to load it i cant press any key
also when turn on the speaker it doesnt work
any one else have it?

i'm using jc6 and 1.6.3 recovery 4.6.2
 
Guys plz tell me wat i m doin wrong here....
i read all the notes about rooting and flashing..
1. installed SDK and galaxy ADB drivers.
2. as able to acces the phone with cmd.
3. used recovery 4.6 as i wantd to flash galaxo 1.6.2
4. was able to get that recovery screen with whole lot of options...

have done nandroid bkp..
NOW...
4. as per the tutorial i pressed "root su"
phone reboots....
5. but when i try to apply tat galaxo 1.6.2.zip file
I am getting error....
installation abortd..tried it several times...in vain..:(

I tried serchin the forum and i get to kno...as galaxo 1.6.2 is based on JC6 firmware....i hav to put both the files on sdcard...

but now i am really confused....
i want to flash galaxo and not JC6...y shuld i put two files of 50mb size on my sd card when i want to flash only 1.6.2 ?

HELP!!!!!

I think samsung.tar is for restoring gapps as update.zip(galaxo1.6.2) does not contain google apps.

Follow these instructions exactly (see 2nd post), you can start at B3

Note:

update.zip is the galaxo 1.6.3 zip file renamed.

SAMSUNG.tar is your JC6 update renamed.

If you're having problems getting those files over, mount the SD card on your computer and just copy them over in windows explorer.


***You do not need to enable root, as this happens automatically with Galaxo.***

use this Flash rom Galaxo 1.6.2 and 1.6.1 - Windows tutorial - Samsung Galaxy
use the 1.6.2 only with the 1.6.3

be sure to download his samsung.tar
worked great for me

No they don't, they say you have to use Recovery 4.6.2 (Recovery 5 is for GAOSP and will not work, it won't restore the G.Apps).

All you have to do is replace the RECTOOLS.tar.gz file with the 4.6.2 version though.

yeah. sorry about that.... they say: if you don't need gapps,you can flash it with Recovery V5.0
