Help Galaxy 5 widget problem.

Hi there,
I can't use widgets on my galaxy I5503 anymore. Everything was working just fine until yesterday, and now whenever I select the Widgets option in Add to home screen, a force close comes up. The widgets already present work fine,just cannot add new ones. Restarting the phone doesn't help. Used AVG, but nothing there. I know I could just factory reset, but if someone had another solution, that would be really helpful. Thanks.

This may be due to any new widget u installed... Check advanced task killers and kill any widget related app...
It will be good to go then. Try reebot if needed.. Factory reset must be ur last choice..
And also download widgets with poositive reviews..

It didn't work.I uninstalled all apps with widgets n tried again, no sir it will just force close . Then I uninstalled every app, still the same result. I tried clearing settings data, and all it did was change the wallpaper.

The weird thing is, everything else is working just fine, the only problem seems to be with the settings application itself. But, this has never happened before, and I haven't install any apps for a week now.

Except for factory reset, anyone has any other solutions?

Can't do that as well..Kies says that "This device's firmware cannot be upgraded".

I think I'll just have to factory reset.

But any other ideas before I do that?

I also had the same issue of force close while opening widget lists in my galaxy 5 . I think the problem is with google map's latest update .when I uninstalled the maps updates the problem was fixed

I figured this out, but not before factory resetting my phone.
Stupid Google Maps :/

Try updating ur software from update manager...
This helped me once...

I can't find Update manager. This is really annoying
Also, is rooting dangerous.
