Help Galaxy Ace 2 music genre quirks

LesCM19

Lurker
Music imported from laptop using MediaMonkey doesn't have all my genres included. Lots of tracks (eg 'metal') are lumped into the 'other' genre and some tracks are put into albeit reasonable genres (eg in 'indie/alternative' instead of 'punk')
Thought it was coz I was using the Mediamonkey app for android which is supposed to be buggy but the factory fitted player does the same thing and genres on laptop are as was.
Any ideas?

Genres are almost always finicky when it comes to music library management. Personally I go by artist and album only. Although I suppose if you create a lot of mixed playlists it could help you to have genre sorting.

Any answers to this? All my songs all have Genres carefully assigned. When I then copy the songs to my Android (Gingerbread tablet), MediaMonkey for Android AND Shuttle show different Genres (mostly as described earlier here with many tracks strangely assigned "Alternative\Indie" genre.

For example: Talking Heads "Pulled Up" is assigned "New Wave" genre on my PC. I ensure that I sync my tags. I right click the MP3 in Window Explorer, and click Properties. In the Properties window, I see that "Pulled Up" is assigned "New Wave" genre. However, in media players in Android, I see that "Pulled Up" is assigned "Alternative\Indie" genre. Why? I don't even use the "Alternative\Indie" genre for any songs on the PC, and yet in Android, I see nearly 500 tracks assigned the "Alternative\Indie" genre. Where does the "Alternative\Indie" genre even come from?
