My mrs just bought an Ace.
Ive told her if she wants it rooted and overclocked, she can do the research etc but i know ill end up doin it lol.
Can i ask, how fast will it run stably with a clockable kernel and is a custom ICS rom the highest its ever gona support?

Here I have good news for all galaxy ace GT5830i user.I was also facing a same problem like IMEI and network releted issue afte upgrading jellybalst in my samsung galaxy ace phone.I was send my mobile to local service center.They hold my mobile 6 days and then told me its impossible to get your IMEI no.Someone told me u need to spend almost 3500 rs to get IMEI no.I am totally upset.Then I tried from myself to get my IMEI no.and thank god I recover my IMEI no,network and upgrade android from 2.3 to 4.1 version.

Try to follow this simple step if u r not getting your IMEI no.
1)Boot jellyblast from bootmenu(valumeup+home+powerbutton)
i)wipe data/factory reset
ii)wipe cache partition
iii)apply update from sd card(JELLYBLASTV3.0.3_Ported_For_S5830I.zip) put down in sd card)

again apply update from sd card(kernel-201211201515-E3-boot.img) put down in sd card)

again apply update from sd card (modulos201211201515-modules) put down in sd card)

then select reboot and then check IMEI no using *#06#

I think it work 100%.for me its working very very fine.

all data is to necessary to keep in sc card as its in zip format.
update 1 by one

1)jellyblast
2)kernel-201211201515-E3-boot.img
3)modulos201211201515-modules

gd luck..if u will get result please reply me.......

I can see a lot of posts on here 2011/12 and its september 2013, but please can anyone help, Im a older guy and got my first android phone after many years of a basic one, samsung galaxy ace 5830i it was on offer, its fine, but like many I want more apps , what is the best, easy way for an idiot like me to do this, a safe way please, I cant afford another phone, I like what the phone does, but the apps all look good too.I found out today how to use Kies an move photos in, but how do i get them on the sd card, and offers of help please

I don't like Kies.Like a lot of propriety software it's bulky and usually buggy and slow.It doesn't do much that you cannot do yourself.It is useful for updating the official firmware/roms(Operating system).
It does install the usb drives so you can use the USB cable and use the phone as a portable data device but you can install these separately if you don't want kies on the system(I would keep it installed in your case for now).
You can just plug your phone into your computer and not use Kies to transfer files using the file manager on your computer if you untick the load automatically in Kies.

You may be able to move some programs easily to the SD card using the free Clean Master App,

but you will be limited unless you,"Root" your phone.This means unblocking the access to the,"Root" folder/system.This will void your your warranty unless you also learn to,"Unroot" and there's lots of info on this forum for that so for now stick to easy software.

Here's how I work with my phone.I'm on WinXP and Win7 and don't like their explorer-file manager and use the free 2xexplorer(Google it) as it uses two panes easily.

I plug my Galaxy Ace into my laptop and then use 2Xexplorer to copy and past what I want onto the SD card in the phone.If it's pictures I just use the thumbnail option/s so I can see what in the pictures.If you know how to copy and paste files in windows then this makes working with the phone easy and no need for bulky Kies as you just use it as a portable hard drive.

Im on GT-S5380 with SD 16GB class 10,
dxkt4 with kernel root@dell144#1
ok here's all my apps:
Rooted phone,
Titanium backup for backup and controlling apps,
Set CPU - to set my cpu at times when playing games/standby,
Rebooter as my task killer,
Busybox + SManager for Ram swapping,

I've used titanium backup to freezes things like software updater, google play services, and more other apps that i seldom use in thinking it would make the phone run smoother and more standby time + no other apps that consume or uses my 2g internet since it's soo slow.. :p
I set my cpu at High 800mhz Low 480mhz and when its on standby i set it to High 480mhz Low 122mhz.. :confused:
Used rebooter since it has the reboot & recovery options..
As for Ram swapping I'm not sure yet whether i've achieved that or not.. :p

Now come the main question here.. :D
the titanium backup thing, is it really useful when i do that?
what other consequences that may happen?
For the set cpu, i dont know whether it work or not even with SU access :p
As for the Ram swapping, can anyone guide me?
i use the coding type, i dont use apps swapper2 for it since i want to learn about it..
Last but not least is there anyway i can boost my 2g connection or tweak my network to go into using only 3g? Im in Malaysia, using Celcom telco.
The network provider cant help me since im using a simcard registered not with my name bcause its a present from a friend..:D:smokingsomb:

I tried loading a "leaked" CM 10.2 on to my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 but it kept randomly rebooting. I reverted back to CM 7 and I can't recover all of my contacts. Also, the google play app has vanished!

Can anyone help please?
 
Has anyone seen this? I have a Samsung galaxy ace s5830i,is this legit or should i ignore? I got a pop up from a yehmobi.com, it says System Notification! Your Samsung galaxy ace has (13) virus! If it does not resolve in a few days virus will damage SIM-card and clear all contact. Follow the instructions below to remove all Viruses immediately.
How to remove:
Step 1: DOWNLOAD and INSTALL Mobile Security Antivirus App!
Step 2: Open the App and Remove ALL Viruses
then theres a button saying download. Need to know if this is legitimate or not or if im able to ignore it,help would really be appreciated,thanks in advance.

Never heard of anything like this, probably a scam to make people download that app. Did you by any way download some app related to that website that may be causing that notification.
Just in case you can backup your contacts, its quite easy.
 
Cant help but u seem to no more than me i was messin with my ace and cant ring out or get calls in wifi etc sound and tried installing odin to sort it out but odin just flashes on my screen and disapears and i dont have clue why can u help m8
 
Can u help me with prob 5380 ace wont ring out or get calls in after i tried to root it wifi etc fine i downloaded odin and when i ran odin small box with ok cum up i pressed it and odin flashed and disapeared off screen dont hav clue wat iv done wrong can u help point in right direction m8
 
Hi there., can you help me fix my problem on my phone about the data connectivity mode, it does'nt appear on the phone selection when i long press the power button intsead im going through the setting just to connect to the internet,,. 1409281499034.jpg
