Root Galaxy captivate upgrading to 2.3?

I am currently using Galaxy S Captivate in Canada with Rogers,
froyo rooted, and I am wondering if I can upgrade my captivate to 2.3
for the korean galaxy s phones.
is this possible? will it work?
basically I'm going to download kies from the korean samsung mobile website
and try to upgrade my canadian captivate to 2.3..
