Help Galaxy nex refuses to install drivers

Andy822

Lurker
So i cannot connect my galaxy nexus to my pc (Win7 64-bit) at all. When ever i plug it in it tries to connect but after a few seconds it says "failed to install drivers" Anyone know why?

Samsung's drivers have been problematic or non functional for a lot of people. The best known workaround is to install PDAnet.

PdaNet -- USB Tether/Bluetooth DUN for Android

The drivers for that work with the Nexus. Once you have it installed and your GN can connect to your PC you can uninstall the software.

This is the method that MANY people, myself included, had to use to unlock the bootloader and root.

I tried installing the pdareach. Is that the right program for my pc because when i go to install i get this error.

Quicktip: Alt+PrintScreen takes a screenshot of just your active window so you don't have to crop it ;)

Also, it's PDAnet not pdareach

You only need to install it on your PC.. it's just for the drivers, you can uninstall it right after you install it and the drivers will stay. You don't actually need to use it.

After struggling with this (in Win 7 64 bit) for a day or so, found this link.

Apparently Kaspersky puts an in the registry that MTP driver installers choke on. I don't have Kaspersky any more, so just deleted the item (after backing it up!)

Now the Nexus mounts like a drive. Yes!
