Galaxy Nexus Battery Life Question

Hi there,

To make up my mind about getting Galaxy Nexus, I am little concerned about battery. My usage is basically 1 hour talking every day, sync 3 email every hour, and web surfing between 3 to 4 hour. So can my battery stand for a day?

Thank you

that is pretty close to my day today. I have gotten alot more emails and phone calls than that though. I am at 13hrs and 40% battery left. Posting this from my nexus btw. Oh and ihave the screen brightness cranked to one tick below full, auto brightness sucks for me always way to dark.

How long are you surfing the web? Also I am on the 3g network.

I wouldn't be too concerned about it, while many complain about bad battery life many are having excellent life out of it.

Everyone that posts a battery experience needs to post whether they are on wifi or not. We need consistency in these reports. The best way would be to leave wifi off completely, since that can control for the wifi completely.

I have found that with 4G devices, using wifi can increase battery life dramatically. When I am home, I just leave wifi on all the time and I can go 1-2 days without a charge on my Droid Charge. On 4G, I can only go 8-10 hours.

Frankly,

None of the descriptions people give on here give any real insight to battery life. You need standardized tests with limited changing variables. Tests such as the ones various tech sites conduct such as playing videos for X hours with everything else turned off, etc etc. give a much more consistent idea of battery life.

My phone is connected to wi-fi whenever I am home. There isn't a 4G network where I live so that isn't really a factor. I've actually been really happy with how fast the phone loads web pages using just 3G.

My last charge lasted me 28 hours. It was really light usage, but it was still a huge jump from how poor it was on day 1.

I haven't gone that long yet. But i have noticed my battery life is around 75% right now been un plugged for about 7 hours. Only 3 calls since then probably 15 to 20 text and moderate web surfing all on 4g. Battery seems to be just fine with my usage. Way better then my first days use when i was on my phone playing with it all day

Does anyone know of an app that automatically toggles LTE on/off when I fire up the web browser. I'd really only want 4G speeds when I'm surfing or watching a video. Does Tasker do this?

yea im getting good battery life as well...here is a post i just posted in another thread about it:

I am easily getting 17-22 hrs of battery life on this phone with the stock battery and I am not doing anything special to save it. I find its easily the same battery life that I got with my droid OG. That includes:

-wifi/gps/bluetooth on all day
-4g on all day
-automatic screen brightness
- I only use the power widget and weather widget - i personally find widget take up a lot of ram/battery, just a habit from my droid OG
- my wallpaper is not moving
- phone set to end processes when close them and only 3 can be active
- I also swipe old apps out before i close the phone
- i have no sounds or vibrations for key presses and such

Now what did I do with the phone in this time:

-made a few phone calls - around 15 minutes worth
- txted a bunch
- turned the phone on a lot to check time
- played with settings a lot
- played with cam for maybe 5 mins
- played maybe 5 mins of games
- watched a 3 min youtube video - elmo for my son:)
- downloaded a few apps
- checked facebook and email probably 30+ times

I started with the same 2-3 hour of battery problem as everybody else. Problem solved. Like my previous phones (storm, droid, incredible, thunderbolt) 3-4 full battery drains and recharges with the phone off. Then 3-4 full battery drains and recharges with the phone power on.

Screen at 50% and not set to adjust at low power. 30 second screen timeout. Static wallpaper. ADW launcher ex 20 icons per page, 3 pages. 4G on. Wifi off. All snyc settings at manual and app. updates wifi only.

Glad to say I just got 17 hours out of the battery after moderate use. A few phone calls, multiple texts, took at least 20 pictures with flash on and added a few contacts. I also had facebook book open in the browser. I did some browsing. Did not watch any videos.

There you go. Good luck. I love this phone!!!
