Help Galaxy Nexus doesn't charge, computer cant recognise device

I've had my Galaxy Nexus since release in the UK, it's been fine up until lately when it decided to stop charging via the wall socket. I've been using the proper changer ect, now when I connect it to my pc it shows a little box in the bottom corner explaining that the device can't be recognised, "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise it." It now charges usb. The thing is I've unlocked the boot loader as I was planning on flashing it, this is obviously stopped me from taking it back to the Samsung repair center.

Can anyone think of my next move as I'm stuck. I've tried un-installing and re-installing the drivers but it just says its not compatibly. Also when I connect it to my pc it freezes for a split second and has even crashed my computer a few times. My pc is capable of handling a phone plugged into it so I don't understand why this is happening it never happened before.

Totally stuck so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kris

Ive also tried a few different usb ports.

its probably the the PORT... try wiggling it around in the nexus... i had to turn mine upside down to get it to charge.. i am going to call VZW tonight

what computer OS?

Windows xp sp3, I think it may be the port on the phone aswell, today it recognised it as a media device for a few seconds then it couldnt recognise it, theres no was to un root with out it being connected to the pc via cable is there?

I've had exactly the same problem as the OP, picked my phone up from Vodafone Australia. The phone isn't charging when plugged into AC, but charges through USB. Fortunately fastboot worked for me so I was able to restore a stock image/lock the bootloader. Unfortunately I don't have time to get this problem fixed before business travel for a month next week. It is extremely frustrating.

I found some time today the phone was actually recognized as a media device, albeit temporarily. Unfortunately we don't seem to be alone on this problem.

Right so I finally managed to unroot and lock the boot loader it took it to the Samsung repair shop and it turns out the micro usb needed replaced, its all working great now. Only thing I noticed is i got it back and the boot loader is unlocked for some reason :s
