I really think I'm late to the Galaxy Nexus bandwagon now.
PLEASE READ ENTIRE THREAD BEFORE ANSWERING. Yes, I know about screencasting apps not working on the GNex both rooted and unrooted, but hear me out on this one.
I just rooted my Galaxy Nexus (Verizon LTE version on 4.2.2) and have been looking for Fraps-like screencast apps to record my phone screen. As I've found out from various sources on the Internet, screencasting doesn't work on the GNex because the framebuffer that screencasting apps use to record is always empty. As far as I know, the GNex is the only phone with this issue.
From past experience with using AndroSS on my old Ally, it took screenshots using the frame buffer (as far as I know), and with the way the GNex works, I've wondered how it takes screenshots if not via the framebuffer.
What if there were a way to use the screenshot feature to record the screen on the GNex? As far as I know, there hasn't been anyone who has attempted to use the screenshot feature of Android 4.x.x as a method of video recording the screen on a GNex.
I know there will be issues of lag to deal with when trying to record multiple frames taken at once using the screenshot feature as a video recording feature, but it's an otherwise plausible method of recording the Galaxy Nexus screen, as far as I can tell.
If this is in the wrong section, then mods, please feel free to move this. But as far as I know, this is a problem that GNex users and developers can get together to solve.
