Galaxy Nexus vs HTC One

I like the nexus just because of it's simplicity and stock ics, but I can definitely tell at times that the processor in the nexus struggles a bit to keep up with the 720p screen. Hopefully 4.0.5 improves the speed a bit. Supposedly some of the lag, especially the lag with the app switcher button was fixed with the 4.0.4 update.

The thing that makes this really hard on us Sprint folks is that both phones are coming out at about the same time. Sprint is taking pre-orders for the Nexus now and will take pre-orders for the EVO 4G LTE in a few weeks.

It's absolutely absurd. Choices are great and all, but the Nexus should have been released 6 months ago on Sprint.

I've been upgrade eligible for a long while now (still carrying an original EVO) and I would have already had a Nexus by now if they released it on time.

Now... I'm stuck trying to make this awkward decision because both are actually really good phones. I'm happy to see that the Nexus won that review because I also happen to like the design. I would definitely have to put a case on the EVO 4G LTE/HTC One because it's FUGLY. Holy crap, the two tone black with that horrible red stripe...Seriously?

I know HTC hasn't released the specs for battery life on the HTC One but that will be a very important factor for me. I want the phone that has longer battery life because both are pretty much identical.

The HTC One that Sprint will be carrying is a 1.5Ghz dual core. It is NOT the quad core version. The Nexus is 1.2Ghz dual core. So it's not really much faster, is it? The screen I've heard is better on the One but I know Samsung's S-AMOLED screens are no joke too. So again, I just don't see the specs as being too different. They COULD have been, just not for Sprint.

The HTC Sense on my EVO now crashes CONSTANTLY. So while I like the appearance, I've had enough of it. I'm ok with stock for the stability and perhaps minor performance increase.

Does anyone know that battery life comparisons on these phones by chance? Any reviews make mention of it?

I'm in the same boat as you. I am trying to decide between the nexus and the new EVO 4G LTE. The EVO is ugly but on the inside it sounds like a beast. I have had the original EVO and the EVO 3d and I think I'm ready to try somethin different but who knows.

With BatteryFu my battery lasts all day now (on the original battery in the EVO)...But it's a little annoying that I have to go and switch on the internet everytime I want to use it.

So I'd really prefer a phone that lasts as long as possible. I'm just tired of batteries dying and I often don't carry a bag so I can't really bring a spare battery with me.

If the HTC One / EVO 4G LTE has a longer battery life then I'll go for that. If not, then I'll go for the Nexus. I keep hearing the screen is so much nicer on the HTC One's but I don't know...How much better? It's not worth it if the battery life is going to be poor.

I've heard mixed things regarding battery life, but since it's the dual core, my hope is that it would be quite good actually. I kinda wish I knew right now that it would be worse, I'd just go and pre-order the Nexus...But sadly I think I'll have to wait until after both phones have launched for a little while before being able to make a decision... Which really stinks. Finally the phone I want comes out, but with it this other one...And they aren't coming out on the same day...And HTC hasn't released specs...So argh!
