Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Hmm, we are almost tied with 2005 for most active year on record ;) you call that light?! J/k I know what you mean. Storms are all pretty weak, so doesn't seem to compete with years past.

Busy at work, so not going to be on much today. Hope everyone has a great hump

Haha, yeah...weak storms and most have been kept out at sea. Makes it seem less active.

Good morning all! Happy Wednesday!

Just wondering what ROM is everyone currently running - my phone (still on Jelly Belly who knows what version) is giving me some hard times last night and horrible battery life lately. Just seeing if people are still running that, CNA, CM10, or something else? Thanks!

AND my usual morning picture.

Stigy - Running Sourcery 2.0 on my phone and CNA 3.3.1 on my Nexus 7. No problems on either, normal battery life on the GNex and excellent life on the N7 (averaging 5+ hours of screen on)

running Sourcery 2.0, battery life could always be better. I think it's great how they advanced specs of phones every few months. How about doing something to make batteries better, geniuses.

Motorola did the right thing with the RAZR Maxx - everyone just needs to do that.

That batter is killer and its barely bigger than the regular RAZR.

As of now, the answer to battery problems is make them bigger. While phone innovation motto has been "make it thinner". I think we are finally getting away from the make it thinner mentality and now are more along the lines of make it reasonably thin, which does allow for bigger batteries.

Newer battery tech is being researched and pushed along at a faster rate than in the past due to the push for electric cars. We should see some advancements in the next 5 years or so from what I understand.

Good Morning Gnexers!

I, for one, would love to leave my wallet at home and just carry the phone... but we're a long way from that.

(a) Wallet needs more than a handful of places accepting it; and

(b) States need a digital form of secure cards like driver's licenses.

If we can get to THAT point, then I might consider taking this leather lump out of my back pocket :)

I agree, phones are plenty thin enough now to allow for bigger batteries.

Like the other cool kids, I'm using JBSourcery 2.0.

Morning!! It is a good one too. DSB and I had a very long conversation last night. I found out that after I went left and he went right at our crossroad he hit a detour and came left again. :D

Morning Stigy! I'm on JBSourcery 2.1, digging it so far, but it's only been a few days. Battery life seems about the same as I had on AOKP ICS. jhtalisman posted last night that he's running CM10 and will post screenshots; I'm excited to see those, I really want to see what it looks like.

Sounds like good news :) Congrats, BB.

EDIT: By the way, friends, we need to make sure that BB gets the ceremonial 20,000th post! It's coming up very soon :)

Stigy, the XDA thread you posted is very interesting - are you still following it? They're saying that the update includes a new bootloader, new radios, a new boot animation (wonder what it looks like!), and some kind of app/database optimizer - not sure exactly what that last part means.

Anyway, I wonder if all this can be extracted and incorporated into existing ROMs? This thread over at Rootz for the new radios seems to generally have people getting a little bump in reception and data.

I'm back on AOKP nightlies. However I did run CM10 last week and its quite nice. May come back to it, because wow did it have the butter.

Yeah trying to follow it now.

Flashing the new radios now, but curious to see what all this new optimizing stuff and boot animation is about. Keeping my eyes peeled on that.

Edit: Oh wait that optimizing apps thing is what happens when you clear cache/dalvik in recovery. That is nothing new.

I'm curious to see new boot animation though UNLESS this guy hasn't been running JB since he only has four posts and thinks the ICS boot animation was previously used.

Ah, well that's a bit underwhelming, haha. I thought it would be more interesting than that.

As for the boot animation, do you mean that it's still the same ICS one, but the guy thinks it's new?

Could anyone do me a favor and post the changelog from CNA 3.4.0 here for me? I can't get to their site from work...stupid filter.
