Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

@Chief

Hypothetically lets say you want to go with Verizon Edge/Max. Motomaker for Verizon isn't available until November and the Developer Edition I wouldn't imagine be sold on their website(?). The Max part of Edge is only available for an unknown amount of time. It could end before MotoMaker is available?

Yeah Halon, I ran the numbers and moving to Edge would be a bad idea for me. I'll stick on unlimited data just as long as I can: surely there are a lot of people on unlimited that Verizon knows would migrate immediately. ( Of course, in my particular situation they'd probably SAVE money with me gone :D )

The other carriers are quickly building up their LTE networks, possibly in anticipation of VZW canning unlimited and catching their angry customers. Just speculation, I know: but it's awfully good timing.

At any rate, it's kind of unlikely that Verizon would cancel all remaining unlimited plans because they KNOW there would be a mass exodus away from Big Red. Now I could be way over-estimating the number of unlimited accounts left and it could be a loss that VZW is willing to absorb. I sure hope not, though.

I suppose anyone that still has unlimited must be just about out of contract (~4 months left for me). AT&T & Sprint have been upgrading and expanding like mad around me, it would be poor timing for VZW to get rid of unlimited IMO, I actually think this 6GB thing they announced is smart as it at least made me pause and think about it.

By the way...the manager and store employee that helped get my Moto X card for my wife last night were only aware of 2...that's right TWO...counting my wife's they had sold. No display in the store, just a plain white Moto X alongside the HTC One and Galaxy S4 in the display. No mention of customizations anywhere in the store.

I don't see any reason for Tmobile not to have great service here. A major university near by with a satellite campus here in town, 2 amusement parks(one here in town and one 15 minutes down the road) and a MLB affiliated minor league team. Makes sense to me but I'm sure there are reasons.

That's how they roll in NW Alabama. They need to make up some signs about getting the Crimson Tide Moto X and watch them sell.

ROFL! Hilarious and 100% true.. The sad thing is I ordered a "crimson" and white phone because crimson was the closest to maroon they had. :p

Edit: For those interested in the X and that use insurance through the carrier, be sure and check out the 2 year Moto Care program. $85 up front and $39 for each claim, up to 3 claims. Heck of a lot cheaper than $10/month plus a $200 deductible coverage you get through AT&T.

Let's see: Verizon TEC is $8/mo with a $99 deductible. That's $192 over 2 years, not counting a deductible. Squaretrade is $125 up front for a 2-year warranty with NO deductible. Hmmm... lemme think hard about this one...

;)

EDIT: I woke up at 11 PM last night (midnight Eastern) to find the Moto X for sale on Verizon.com! 16 GB ONLY! Now the wait is on, AGAIN, either for the developer option or for Moto Maker to open up with the 32GB version GRRRR

Man, very slow in here without Stig and BB around.

Thoroughly impressed with the Moto X so far. If you were happy with your GNex, you'll be thrilled with this phone.

I've got about 3 months left on my grandfathered unlimited contract. The 6GB deal didn't appeal to me because I'm using about 90 to 100GB a month on average. I'm upgrade eligible, though, and I really want the Note 3 when it comes out. So what I did was transfer my upgrade to another line, and I will just switch the phone to my line once I buy it.

If Verizon decides to cut me off unlimited, I'm going to AT&T. Their LTE is faster here anyway, and I wouldn't have to wait for months if I want the latest phone, simply because Verizon loves to d*** around until the product is close to stale, not to mention their Nazi stance on blocking me from doing what I want with my own phone. (See HTC One fiasco)

Oh, and hello everyone!

I just got back from a 30-mile round trip to the Verizon corporate store. I talked to VZW rep there who confided that they were expecting Moto X stock to come in "within the next week or two" but that they can't nail it down for sure because they don't get many emails from "on high".

So there you have it. Quite possibly in store by the middle of September! Hopefully they'll carry the doggone 32GB model and I'll pounce.

Unless the Developer Edition comes out about the same time, then it's a no-brainer :D

Hi Guys -

It looks like you guys have had a sweet thing going here - wish I had looked you all up sooner. I really feel like I missed out on something here. I was a fanboy for the release of the nexus too. Got it a few days after it came out. No one around me understood.

Hard to believe that we'll soon be coming up on two years. I still love her. Even though she's slowly starting to show her age.

I recently had my work PC upgraded and didnt bring over the Google Calendar sync program I had been using to manage my outlook contacts and calendar. It looks like google no longer supports it - so, I'm left looking for a straightforward and cheap/free way to sync my outlook contacts and calendar items.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Looking forward to hanging out.

Here's the nasa shot of the rimfire...

Fire is larger than the city of Chicago I heard.

Looks like the smoke is headed over Burning Man.

Ooh, just found a way to order the Moto X on VZW website and it still offered me bill to account. I hope that option is available when the DE comes out. Then I order it the day after my account closes for the month. No payment for two months.:D

I don't think Verizon has ever sold a Developer Edition on their website. I'm pretty sure you have to order them directly from the manufacturer.

Don't burst my bubble.:(

Actually, it doesn't matter, I'm holding out for that anyway.;)

I thought I was waiting for the Nexus 5, but now I'm curious after reading the articles yesterday about the 4th gen Asus Padfone combined with some rumor heard from inside at&t. ;)

A Snapdragon 800 phone that converts into a full 10.1" tablet sounds mighty appealing to me.

Have tried to warm up to a 10" tablet, but really don't have a use for it. :o
Still waiting for the Note 3 and Nexus 5 announcements to decide on what I'll do.

Did bring my Chromecast into work yesterday and found it's great there! Watched a bunch of stuff on Netflix and some on YouTube. Get's a whole lot more use there than at home.

Yeah, I have 10.1" TF700 and a Nexus 7, but I like the TF more. My GF is the opposite, she like the Nexus 7 over the TF. It makes for few issues over using them. :D

I just need a keyboard and a large screen for most everything I do. My old laptop is the workhorse, Chromebook if I'm traveling and N7 for book reading. Prime just doesn't fit into what we need. Honestly, I'm just swimming in tech I don't need! I know, first world problems. :o

Yeah, right. ;)

Honestly though, what about the prime, other than their weird weight distribution, didn't meet your needs that the chromebook does?
