Happy Wednesday everybody :)

Just got back from our community's annual Patriot Day ceremony. In it the three veterans groups - American Legion, DAV and VFW - and their auxiliaries present First Responder of the Year awards to members of the local police and fire departments. It was very good, great turnout for a Wednesday and the press covered it like a blanket. The guy I presented to wasn't there, as his wife had a baby boy last night.

Maybe they'll name him DAVe after my organization :D

Not to be political at all, but I think it's sad that so many smaller communities are letting this day slip away from their collective consciousness and no longer having a ceremony... if they ever had one at all. It's a really great way to show the community's support and gratitude to our first responders and remember why the reason the day is special to Americans.

Sadly the dog I just picked up on Sunday has to go. I ended up being allergic to him. I knew there was chance and it is rare for me to be allergic to a dog. Sucks. He is a great dog. I've had 6 inquire already about him. Still waiting on the first to get back to me.

Oh well. Life goes on.

(1) Baby Blues and Capt Ron aren't here to turn our innocent phone banter into naughty innuendo... and

(2) All us Gnexers are looking around in other sections, preparing for our new phones. I know I am.

The Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole has had its vital and sometimes hilarious place in AF history, alongside the Epic Pre-Release Thread that preceded it; but that era is quickly coming to a close. When BB (the OP) comes back and Gnex has truly retired for most of us, I think the noble thing to do will be to turn to lights off and lock the door on the GNWH before it just fizzles into sad AF obscurity.

I played with the G2 for a while at Verizon today. Gorgeous, super bright display and extremely fast.

Still, I am going to wait for the Note 3's bigger display. I'm also no longer a fan of the virtual buttons. It inherently makes the display smaller than it should be.
