Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Oh lord, what did I do?!
Amber W.: Hey and welcome to Verizon Wireless Sales Chat, my name is Amber. May I have your name, please?
Dan: Dan
Amber W.: Good morning Dan how are you?
Dan: Great thanks, I'm looking to upgrade one of my lines, and I'm curious what the monthly charge applies to when I look at my checkout basket, as I believe it should be a total subsidized cost with no monthly fee
Amber W.: What phone are you getting?
Dan: An LG G2
Amber W.: What is it showing you exactly?
Dan: Your Cost: $17.99 Monthly, $169.99 Due Now
Amber W.: The monthly is your monthly bill, Are you doing the Edge program?
Dan: No, I was under the impression I would maintain Unl't data as the checkout process went. I was never prompted to change my plan.
Amber W.: If it allows you to select that option, you may do so and continue with your order!
Dan: But if it's looking for me to pay a monthly fee, does that mean it's putting me into Edge?
Amber W.: Did you select Edge?
Dan: Never did.
Dan: I imagine I can cancel my order upon receiving notification of a plan change?
Amber W.: Ok, you could.
Dan: Okay, Im going to go through the checkout process.
Amber W.: Great! Did you get accessories with your new phone?
Amber W.: Let me know when you get order confirmation please Dan!
Dan: What is this secure code with my bank?
Amber W.: It's the number on the back of your card.
Dan: Ah, I reset it, looked like something new
Amber W.: MAy I have the order confirmation number please?
Dan: **********
Dan: That should be it?
Amber W.: Thank you!
Dan: Just received the email, looking through the contract deal
Amber W.: Looks great! I do see that you did not get any accessories. I would highly recommend going back and getting at least a case!
Dan: Will look at some when they become more available.
Dan: Are you able to confirm my plan has not changed?
Amber W.: Your plan has not changed.
Amber W.: Thank you for your business and for choosing Verizon Wireless! is there anything else I can help with today?
Dan: Thanks!
Dan: Nope, that shall be all, have a good one!
Amber W.: You're welcome! Enjoy your new phone!

I would be nervous as all heck! I am now and I can't even try until midnight!

DO IT!!! :D

Oh I bought it. :)
Picking it up at the store tomorrow. If there's anything fishy about losing unlimited, it's going back immediately. I also want to find out more about this "monthly" fee since I never in the process signed up for Edge. We'll see what happens.

Yep, it's already processed but the store is closed today. I'll go tomorrow after work.
Copacetic, does it use a micro SIM or Nano? Hoping I can just swap.

can you guys help me? i have a sprint gnex running 4.2.1 with a bad esn. i was sort of hoping i'd get an ota update, but i guess the push comes from sprint and not google.

i'd like to update manually to 4.3. i found a tutorial and it talks about yaktu and taktu. no idea which to use, or if i'm not supposed to use either. Which do I use?

i am rooted with a twrp recovery. not really interested in a custom rom.

Best bet is Sprint Galaxy Nexus All Things Root forum, the main forum for the GNex is linked on our home page.

How are using a phone with a bad esn? How did that happen?

I saw a comment that said... In the contract it states you can't upgrade and keep unlimited.

We shall see. Buncha folks seemed to have worked it out, but I think it's a case by case basis. We never signed a new contract since they changed things.... so I don't know! ;):)

Dear lord, 800+ comments on DL and nearly the same on AC about this!

Thanks! Very excited about the pending Note 3, can't wait for the 10th.

I see you've been keeping things moving along smoothly, banhammer mostly sheathed lately, eh?

Yeah, people have mellowed a lot over the years, and really seem to get our vibe, so infractions site-wide are really fairly rare now, bans even more so.

Except for spammers. :D

how am i using a bad esn phone? i am not sure what you mean. it's a perfectly functional device. just can't get sprint to play along until the outstanding bill is paid. best media player/ebook reader/voip device i ever had.

now if i can only find out what yaktu and taktu mean.:(

Ah.

I've seen it all, including people wiping out or trying to modify an esn, and that sort of thing portends larger problems - therefore I asked. :)

As for the rest, I don't know, I think you'll want to ask at http://androidforums.com/sprint-galaxy-nexus-all-things-root/ as this thread is mostly a hangout. :)

Yakju is the codename given to the international GSM model of the Gnex. Takju is the codename given to the US GSM model. Toro is the Verizon codename, and ToroPlus is the Sprint codename. As for flashing a rom, asking in the Sprint All Things Root forum is your best bet because they're most likely to know which ones for 4.3 work best on that variant.

So all the sites that have been running the Unlimited story since last night or early this morning and there hasn't been one response from Verizon. I'm not sure how to interpret this?

I have a feeling that eventually they'll notice their mistake and fix it. Something like this has happened in the past where people were able to switch from limited data plans to unlimited plans due to a glitch in the system, and Verizon fixed all of them.

Wow, so tempted to cancel my pre-order on the Note 3 and re-order under this deal... but you know what? I really don't feel like being under yet another 2-year contract with Verizon. Even if they ALLOW me to keep my unlimited. Other carriers may very well move LTE in here, and I want the flexibility to move to another LTE provider with unlimited data.

And I don't trust Verizon to NOT revise my new contract to a tiered data plan due to "system error".

Constantly amazed by the G2, battery life especially. Hope the Note 3 is just as fantastic for our friends going that route.

Off the charger for 12 hours today and at 83%, with an expected life of 50 more hours. :). Hoping those get the upgrade without losing unlimited.

Time to stop goofing off and give the kiddies a bath.

Don't blame you one bit. The whole thing makes me uneasy and I wouldn't want to pull the trigger. I moved to prepaid because I'm done with carrier contract. They annoy me to the point that the subsidy doesn't make it worth it to me.
