Help Galaxy nexus wifi range problem!

This is how my Network is faring right now.

I apologize for the crappy mouse handwriting, lol. It goes iPhone 4S, Fujitsu Tablet PC, Galaxy Nexus, Linkys Router.

All are connected to a Buffalo router on the other side of the house maybe 20 feet away on the second floor.

If I had to take a guess, the iPhone is in my sister's room right above mine. Everything else is on my desk in my room in the basement.

I am also having this issue I had my old router by TP-LINK WR640N its quiet good in providing signal health but when I bought this phone I need to sit in that room when I wanna use my wifi on my Google Nexus S I was very worried that may be my phone is not compatible with this router.

but 4 days before I bought another brand new series from TP-LINK WR740N and after this I can only go to other room if I really do not know what is the problem with this thing my Nokia E63 is getting excellent signal but this device really upset me regarding Wifi.

Can anyone suggest me I am using ( ICE CREAM SANDWICH 4.0.4 ) build IMM76D

Actually I'm pretty sure IMM76D is an old build at this point. Maybe try updating to see if it makes a difference? If you have the GSM Nexus, you should actually be on Jelly Bean (I think its 4.1.1?) as a matter of fact.

Ughhhhhh....I really hope the Unlocked version doesn't have this problem. It'll get boxed up and shipped right back to Google.

4.1.1 Jelly Bean is not much of an improvement for me, maybe tad bit better

My Nexus (GSM i9250) is connected to WiFi most of the time. I can't remember having an issue with WiFi at all. It seems like pretty much every antenna problem I've seen here (on the Galaxy Nexus forum) is only related to the Verizon Nexus.

I really hope so...

I tested the Galaxy Nexus, iPhone 4S and an original Motorola Droid 1 on my home wifi. I was outside the house at about 40 feet from the router. I ran the speedtest.net app on all three phones three different times using the same server. The iPhone averaged 1000kbps down, Droid 1 about 3000kbps down and the Nexus about 25kbps (yes 25kbps). The Nexus also lost the signal once. So, yes, the Nexus (or at least my Nexus) has a wifi issue. I did this test because I was having trouble getting a signal in areas where other phones could. I'm still under a year and contemplating a replacement. Wonder if the latest refurbs are any better since I doubt they'll give me a new one.

I had WiFi range issues till I selected the band my router uses and and unchecked avoid poor WiFi connections under WiFi/advanced.

i also have same problem, i just bought GN yesterday. Wifi range is very suck. Can someone help me how to solve these issue?

Ooops neverI am on top of my wireless router and I get full bars without connecting. Then I try to connect it drops to 1 bar poor strength and won't connect. Same wireless is running the computer I am on right now with 4 bars.

I was thinking the password may be wrong but I don;t know how to reset that.

I do connect with my GN to my other location no problem.

********** never mind i got it - must have been wrong pw

i get okay signal.. but my sister's DROID 3 right next to mine gets 3 Megabytes a second down, and i only get 1.5....???? she also gets more WIFI bars :/

My GNex VZW works out to about 3/4 mile (4000ft) outdoors LOS using 2.4Ghz wifi and 2x2 mimo antenna. I have the AP setup as 802.11n only. Speedtest.net 6mbps/3mbps at that range ... enough to stream a 3Megapix cam. Amazing what you can do with no other 2.4ghz users around. In town 2.4ghz is a joke. Remember kids that Steve Jobs said that dual band 802.11abgn wifi wasn't needed ... yeah right.

Has anyone else noticed the Galaxy Nexus has absolutely TERRIBLE wifi range? The signal strength has got to be half the strength of any other device I have when sitting side by side.
My access point is only 4 meters faraway from me and my signal is half!
Why??

I've noticed this too and when I test it along side my SE.X8 (a budget phone), I get a between 5 to 8 dBm less on my Nexus in Wifi Analyzer. They're both using the same same channel (this might be part of the problem but the signal was just as strong when the X8 was off).

Because it's radios suck! My wife gets double my range and reception with her HTC incredible.

It's a frustrating downside to this phone. And that's it's #1 job...picking up signals.
