Help Galaxy note 2 incoming call problems

Hi All,

I recently "upgraded" from an s3, to the note 2. For the most part, I've enjoyed having the extra screen real estate, as well as the s-spen. However, I've noticed a couple of issues, most notably one that happened earlier today.

My wife came home from work, and asked me why I hadn't been answering my phone, and that she had tried to call me numerous times. I checked my call log... and nothing. So she tried to dial my phone again, and sure enough, absolutely no notification of any incoming call. No sound, no missed call notification, and nothing in the call logs. I was able to call here phone just fine. I also doubled checked my call settings; making sure that blocking and "Always forward" modes were disabled.

I did a little searching and found the exact problem being demonstrated for the Galaxy Note in a YouTube video Galaxy Note Problem.MOV - YouTube. Unfortunately, there's no mention of a fix in the video, and comments are disabled.

I had to restart my phone to get things working again. I was wondering if anyone else out there has experienced this, and if so, what you did to solve it. I also had a recent issue where the phone stopped auto rotating the screen when browsing. I had to restart the phone to fix that issue as well. As sexy as this phone seems to be, issues like this are totally unacceptable given the hype, and the price.

Thanks in advance!

Same issue for me too. I have family members who called me and I never receive the calls. Sometime if they leave me voice mail, it will come thru with no missed call. I even tried it when that happen with my mom's phone. Once I reboot my phone it seem to be fine. I called AT&T and they didn't have solution yet. AT&T asked me to do a master reset which I will back up my phone first.

I had the same problem on o2 UK. When I called o2 they asked me to put a number into the dialer and all has been fine since. So I would recommend calling your provider.

Apparently changes some timeout. ???

I've had the same problem, very distributing. One thing I recently added was a Bluetooth Big Jambox. There is a setting in the BT called "call Audio" If I have that checked I don't get the calls, so its now not checked. However with this problem, if your not testing your phone daily how do you know if you're not getting calls? I also have AT&T.

Is it possible the call blocking settings are amiss?
Resolution steps

To disable Blocking Mode, follow these steps:

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu button.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under Device, slide the toggle to Off to disable Blocking Mode.

To modify the notifications that are recieved when Blocking mode is enabled, follow these steps:

  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under Device, slide the toggle to On to enable Blocking Mode.
  4. The Features and Set Time sections will become available to modify.
  5. Place checks next to the notifications types you wish to enable and modify the time frame for notifications to play.

Yep definitely sounds like a network/carrier problem. I was on O2 years ago and had the same problem as just123. Haven't had it since leaving O2.

Are you sure you didn't accidentally turn off the auto-rotate toggle in the notifications bar? My son did that by accident without me realising and it took me a while to work out why my screen wouldn't rotate. I felt pretty stupid when I realised it was something so simple lol.

My phone didn't receive phone call again this weekend. I will call ATT on Monday to see if they can fix it. If not, I will return ask them to give me a different phone.

I checked, I my block mode is off for sure.

Samsung Note 2 incoming call problem: solved!:D

I ended up noticing that when my phone displayed LTE, it would not accept a call, but when it says H+, it would. Also, when I called out, LTE would change into H+, and THEN it would connect. So, the solution? Change the network settings from Auto to WCDMA only. I haven't had a problem since. It appears that the technology behind switching the two networks inside the phone needs some tweaking. ..

Enjoy! The Note 2 is a fantastic device, it is my primary business computer., and except for this problem, my experience has been exemplary.

may I know what is the phone provider? Also, have you ever tried to call your own cell from any landlines? I have an issue that my cell rings after the landline/s ring for at least the 3rd time.
