Help Galaxy Note 3 Not Charging from Computer

My Laptop and PC recognize my new Galaxy Note (SM-N9005, Android 4.4.0) but strangely it doesn't charge when connected both the computers! The battery status indicates that it is charging and the battery information also showing that charging visa USB but it doesn't charge the battery at all. I tried both USB 3 & 2 cables but nothing happens. It discharging while connected to the computers instead of charging. From the normal power supply it charges fast and good.

Please help with your knowledge about this topic.

Hi

Most usb ports output a maximum of 0.5amps. I suspect the note 3 mains charger is 2amps. Your note3 may well use more than 0.5amps when its screen is on and processor is working, so it may well discharge (overall) if on when connected to a computer usb port. If its connected to usb but is turned off (or at least not in use) it should charge, but 4 times slower than if plugged into its original charger.

usb 2.0 doesn't push the required amps to recharge the note 3. It might push enough to keep it going while the screen is off but not enough to gain.

You need a usb 3.0 port since it pushes more amps out... or a wall charger.

People have the same problems with ipads and iphones.

my Note 3 shows the 'red X' inside the battery when connected to USB. it still charges but does so extremely slowly. in other words, you can leave it plugged in for a day, and it only got 15% charge back.

I noticed another issue. the new USB 3.0 port makes it where you have to use Samsung's included proprietary cable to enable USB debugging/storage on your computer to transfer files. it supports only charging and not data transfer connected to a common USB 2.0 port. you won't even get the little icon to enable it as a media device.

Using a regular USB 2.0 charger works as fast as using the USB 3.0 in my case, so long as you're talking wall outlets. i use my Nook Simple Touch's charger and cable and it works fine. that and the cable that came with my phone no longer works. the end of it got snapped off when my Note 3 fell. so i'm forced to use 2.0 now.
