Got my Arkon Slim Grip yesterday. It works well, but wow, it fits pretty tightly! I imagined it was a larger than normal size to more easily fit very large phones, but it's not.
Try to make sure the dash area where you put the mount is clean and there's no dust. If the suction is dirty, rinse it off with warm water. It should be pretty solid.I bought the Arkon Slim Grip. It works very well, but it does have a tendency to lose its suction and fall off, especially when the dash heats up. I'm not sure there is any solution. I have also bought the Clingo (hasn't arrived yet) to try that.
Tight . . . really? From Doyer's video it looks like he has about 1/2 inch of additional travel on the spring clamp mechanism. That's why I thought I could use it without removing the case.
I use it with the flip case without any issues. My car has a little cubby below the radio head unit, so I mounted the suction cup in there. I had a different, windshield-mounted holder for my note prior to this, but the mounting cup was too large to fit into the cubby so on the windshield it stayed. This keeps the note down off the windshield and dash, and in easy reach.
Do you find the GPS works ok with it far away from the front window?
If you want cheap and also multi purpose check out the Breffo Spiderpodium (also available in black). I have one and it's awesome. Sits one way as an angled landscape bedside mount, another portrait on the desk at work and hangs the phone off the back of the seat in front of me on the bus for watching vids on the way between.
