Galaxy Note Car Mount

Yes, i'm using all 4 long legs. It wouldn't fit at all with just 2. I'm using the flip cover, so it doesn't add any height at all to the phone.

Got my Arkon Slim Grip yesterday. It works well, but wow, it fits pretty tightly! I imagined it was a larger than normal size to more easily fit very large phones, but it's not.

Yeah it's a bit tight for me too, but it's not quite a dealbreaker. I'd like a sticky circle thing to put on my dash though.

Tight . . . really? From Doyer's video it looks like he has about 1/2 inch of additional travel on the spring clamp mechanism. That's why I thought I could use it without removing the case.

I bought the Arkon Slim Grip. It works very well, but it does have a tendency to lose its suction and fall off, especially when the dash heats up. I'm not sure there is any solution. I have also bought the Clingo (hasn't arrived yet) to try that.

Try to make sure the dash area where you put the mount is clean and there's no dust. If the suction is dirty, rinse it off with warm water. It should be pretty solid.

As far as clearance, there was plenty for me, maybe try pulling down harder.

Yeah it has a little more travel room but I wouldn't want to use it. I have a Seidio Case on it and I can get it in and out but it takes more effort than I think it should. Trying to put it in or take it out tends to mess with the suction because I'm moving it so much and the whole thing comes off my dash. I ended up getting a big weighted GPS mount thing from Best Buy for like $7 and mounting it onto that instead of directly to my dash.

I use it with the flip case without any issues. My car has a little cubby below the radio head unit, so I mounted the suction cup in there. I had a different, windshield-mounted holder for my note prior to this, but the mounting cup was too large to fit into the cubby so on the windshield it stayed. This keeps the note down off the windshield and dash, and in easy reach.

Do you find the GPS works ok with it far away from the front window?

The Clingo works great with 2 exceptions: 1. I have the Boxwave case (which is really great), but the part for the back of the phone has a grid structure. It still sticks to the Clingo, but you have to press the phone hard against the sticky substance; and 2. The clips that fit in the vent (to hold the phone mount to the dash) unfortunately don't exactly fit my vents. It works but it's a little loose. However, the nice thing about the Clingo is ...it's so easy to mount the phone - much more so than the Arkon.

I tried the Clingo when I had my previous phone. I used it with the windshield suction mount. It fell off even when not loaded. I re-cleaned it, re-cleaned the windshield and re-mounted it and it fell off again a couple of hours later, setting off my car alarm (which, fair enough, was set to be far too sensitive). I tested it again, on my desk, with the cradle straight up so that if it failed gravity wouldn't even be to blame. I left it on overnight, and woke up to find it laying on my desk. I returned it the same day. The bit that grabbed onto the phone worked fine, though. No complaints there.

I ended up putting my RocketFish mount back on the windshield, instead. It was rock solid and had never failed. I had only tried the Clingo because it seemed convenient to just press the phone on and go. It turned out that I have more peace of mind with the 'cradle' type mounts, anyway as I don't constantly worry about my phone falling out. They actually also don't take any more time to load than the Clingo did, either, and the case isn't an issue (at least for me).

I can load my phone into the Arkon in literally 3 or 4 seconds, with the flip case still on the phone. It's absolutely no issue.

If you want cheap and also multi purpose check out the Breffo Spiderpodium (also available in black). I have one and it's awesome. Sits one way as an angled landscape bedside mount, another portrait on the desk at work and hangs the phone off the back of the seat in front of me on the bus for watching vids on the way between.

Thanks - I just ordered one of these. This way I can mount it in my car, and on my scooter.....
