Greetings, my first post in this forum, and first venture into the android world as well. Been an iPhone user due to work reasons, but have always wanted to give Android a try. Finally got my wish when I came into possession of a Samsung Galaxy Note from a relative. However, this seem to be a model specifically designed for the Chinese market. It has PDA firmware i889FA06 and build date of Jan 6, 2012. This is NOT the i889 CDMA PDA phone, but an actual Galaxy Note with i889 firmware (not sure why?). It supports CDMA and GSM, with the following information in the about section:

Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband: i889FA06
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-CL872127 se.infra@SEI-14 #2
Build number: Gingerbread.FA06
Quick search of the Galaxy Note i889 lands me in all sorts of Chinese sites, but nowhere can I find any information on how to flash with a ROM made for western world.
Is this even possible? Or is the hardware different enough that only the stock ROM will work?
Any suggestions are much appreciated!
