Help Galaxy Note Questions

1. On a battery change, how long does it take the Note to reboot?

2. On a battery change can you plug in to a power source and not have to reboot?

3. Does the Note communicate with N WiFi?

4. If you do not want all your contacts to get sent to Google, what is the procedure to prevent that? I need to know because I can't trust the sales people to do it right. When I bought the first Droid, 3800 of my contacts, and all the information that went along with them, went to Google after my insistence for that not to happen. I immediately wiped off all the contacts from Google, if that can ever really be done, and returned the Droid for my Blackberry Storm 2.

5. Isn't it hard to believe that there is no news out of Verizon regarding what it's doing about the Note? I think Verizon is going to do a one better and come out with the Journal and ICS...etc.

6. If you buy software for Android 2.x can that generally be swapped for ICS versions on the same phone?

3. Yes I read that it does.

5. I think it's only a matter of time.

6. Once you buy an app through the market you never have to buy it again as long as you're logged in as the same gmail account. For the most part I don't think they have made any separate apps for ICS compared to Gingerbread, but they have updated a lot of apps for compatibility reasons.

1. Actually quite fast although I have never used a stopwatch but I get a feeling in the neighbourhood of 20 seconds. Standard for a smartphone I think.

2. Never tried tbh. I have chargers scattered around and don't have a second battery.

3. I am not sure that I understand the question properly but yes the Note can use WiFi as a client and also as a hot spot (can't say that I have tested this yet though).

4. I have seen settings to this effect but I cannot guarantee that they work.

5. I live in Germany and bought my Note without a contract.

6. Some people say that this is possible and some say not. The best advice I heard was: If you can prove you paid for an app most developers will help you reinstall if the market plays hard to get. However, again I have no experience.

Hope some of this helps,
Eric.

1. 23secs
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. You can set contacts as Google, SIM or phone; but I don't know what contacts are imported as by default. You can create a contact, and have that choice Google/SIM etc. remembered, but not something I've tried. You can also have more than 1Google account, with contacts assigned to sync with only specific ones.
5. No
6. No idea.

Thanks to all of you for your responses. My Blackberry takes over 10 minutes to reboot. I just bought a great little Tenda router from CDW and it does N Wifi and it's great that the Note can take advantage of that. I have a learning curve to deal with, as I only had an Android device for one night 2 plus years ago. I look forward to getting the Note or the Journal, as my Blackberry has seen better days.
