Help Galaxy Note stuck on staup screen (no recovery mode)

Guys

Looking for some advice on my Galaxy Note that no longer switches on

I am currently on holiday from the UK to Gran Canaria,

Before leaving my phone requested I update the OS to Jelly Bean.

The phone has been fine since arriving yesterday, but this morning I changed the battery over and the phone is now stuck on the Galaxy Note GT N7000 Screen. (No swirl)

When I try a system restart, I get the little Android dude for a couple of minutes then he collapses and I get a message 'applied the CSC code' and the phone goes back to the same Galaxy Note GT N7000 Screen

Has this problem something to do with the update or where I am or possibly both?

It may be worthwhile removing your SD card and then trying a re-start. A long shot but there have been reports of problems arising from SD cards when updating to JB.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'no recovery mode' in the title but since the phone does seem to attempt to start I suggest you try using the 'Android Recovery Console'. This is described by NeoGrandizer at post #6 and #16 at the following link :

The thread is for battery drain problems but these posts are equally applicable to any situation where you want a thorough clean up of the handset. Again, I suggest you remove the SD card before you start the process. If neither of these suggestions works then a visit to a service center may be the next step.
