Okay, so I just got the GS2 (yay). but oneee tiny problem. the battery life is CRAP. anyways, i heard the new update will fix it. Will it really? i go down by 1% every 5mins or so. :|

anyways, is it possible to update with a mac? if not, how can i update then? thanks! :)

to answer the first question, im runnin KF2 and i didnt notice much of a battery improvement. im getting the same as i got on KE7. the biggest improvement for me is the heating problem.. hasnt got hot enough for me to bother about since i flashed KF2

The official way to upgrade firmware is via Samsung Kies

According to their website:

Kies mini is ...
Samsung Kies mini enables USB connection between Samsung mobile and Mac computer.
Kies mini provides you with Firmware upgrade and PIMs sync
The availability of the firmware is up to your network supplier though. O2 UK users cannot get KE7 because according to O2 the update does not affect their versions of the phone.

Alternatively, you could bypass this process by using software called Odin. There is plenty of help already available in this forum for how to use it and what it does etc.

hmm. i tried updating system update on the phone, nothing popped up. and i tried to update using kies beta for mac. still no luck. :|

Any news on this? I have a SGS2 and Mac, running on Giffgaff (O2) in the UK, with KE7. The Mac Kies software I just downloaded says the firmware can't be upgraded.
