Help Galaxy S II Firmware Update Problem

Hi !

I am new to this forum as well as android phone. Week back I purchased galaxy s 2 and still struggling to get used to new OS & apps. Installed Kies (2.0.1.11053_99) on my laptop and data sync/backup is perfectly working fine between device & PC. Since last few days Kies is prompting with new firmware update.

Current Firmware Version: PDA:KE8 / PHONE:KE2 / CSC:KE2 INU)
Latest Firmware Version: PDA:KF3 / PHONE:KE4 / CSC:KF3 (INU)

When I click on firmware upgrade button it says "preparing firmware upgrade components" and do not unplug cable. It stays there forever ( i left my pc as it is for even 2-3 hrs) with same message. Nothing seems to happening.

Is there anything specific configuration / settings which i need to take care on my mobile / pc / kies before upgrading my firmware.

Even software update directly from mobile seems failing with message " Server Connection Failed". But am able to connect to internet and download apps as well. Am using EDGE network.

Am still newbie to android and learning ABCD's and dont want to mess up my phone as put my hard earned money into this mobile. Can someone please assist how to sort this problem or whether i should really need this upgrade ot can i skip ?

I've got the same problem - I've been digging around for a solution and if I find anything useful I'll let you know. The problem has come up earlier in other countries where the firmware update was released last month - looks like the UK only just got it.

One solution I've seen suggested is to connect via a USB that sits directly on the motherboard ... So I'll give this a go and let you know how it goes.

For clarification purposes, my update is freezing at 40%

Hi,

I did the update yesterday afternoon and it went quite well.
15 mins and it was done.

BUT, after the update my phone started doing crazy stuff.
It keeps saying that the USB-cable was connected even when i was
drinking beer with a m8 of mine in the local bar. Then i forgot loading the battery last night and today it would not loading. after an hour and a half it finally was loading.

For now i dont have any problems, but thats for now.
If the phone starts f***ing again i'll do a hard reset.

Hope you guys dont have the problems i got cause its quite annoying
