Help Galaxy S2 - 2.3.4 - cannot type the letter S in texts

Hi guys,

I've updated to 2.3.4 and since then I have not been able to type the letter S while texting. When I'm in the middle of the text and press the S key (in landscape or vertical view) it just does not enter and even my keyboard disappears for a bit. I've tried rebooting a few times, but it does not help.

Someone please tell me they had the same issue and resolved it!

Thanks,
Chris

Have you tried another keyboard, there are plenty on the market.
If you have try a soft reset(battery out for 5mins) or as a last resort a factory reset.

I'm also having this problem with my nexus x, I cant type "n", "u" and "J" anymore since yesterday.
my android version is 2.3.6

Personally, I think the letter "S" is vastly overrated! :)

Does the problem occur in both portrait and landscape?
Need to establish if its an app or screen issue.

If its in both modes, then do as already suggested by shotgun and sleeco in turn.

for me this in fact is a screen issue!
after using a painting app just now, ive found out i cannot draw any vertical line in that specific area which also includes "n", "u" and "J" on the keyboard area. but any non-vertical line will be drawn without any problem.

All I can suggest is try recalibrating your screen.
If that fails, try a factory reset etc.
Otherwise it would seem to be an actual hardware issue.

unfortunately since my user interface is android stock, our option menus are a little different. I couldn't find any calibration option in the whole setting.

Not sure if there is a screen calibration but did remember there was one for gyro sensors. Can't check. My daughter playing with my SGS2

I've had the same issue for the last 2 days and finally figured out the answer. Go to Settings / Applications / Quick Launch. There you will see numerous letters that are set up as hot keys for applications. Clear them by holding each one down for a second or two. After doing this all letters worked for me again.
