Help Galaxy S2 corrupt

Really sorry if I have missed a post about this previously, I have looked through a lot of common issues and cannot see anything that sounds like the problems I am having.

My phone is less than 2 months old, worked fine initially. One day after having it on charge overnight I found it unusable as applications kept continuously crashing. Using the reboot option (volume up, home, power on) fixed this issue although it occurred again intermittently.

However after crashing last week the phone now switches back on as if it is new out the box, I get the welcome to android screen and the phone has lost all data that was stored previously (with the exception of 5 photos which I cannot remove or upload).

Every time I switch the phone off it has lost all data when turned back on, if I leave it on it will eventually crash after a day or two.

Whilst turned on the phone works perfectly in every respect and stores numbers/texts/pictures etc. I cannot find any application or function that appears to be broken.

However the phone will not download new firmware any more via kies, and factory resetting has not helped nor has clearing cache. I've tried from the recovery mode and via typing a number into the phone.

My model is GT-I19100 with android version 2.3.4
baseband version I19100XXKI1
Kernel version 2.6.35.7-I19100Xwki4-cl575468 root&dell143#2
build number gingerbread.xwki4

If memory serves I had the latest firmware installed before the ics update.

If anyone has any idea what is wrong, or links to anywhere I might be able to get this sorted then I would be very thankful. I don't know much about phones so sorry if I'm not providing the right information.
