Help Galaxy S2 firmware update issue

Friends,

When i connect my phone to my laptop using KIES i get a pop up which states that a firmware upgrade is available. When i click on that i am able to download the firmware upgrade components. However, the upgrade does not proceed further and i get an error "Fimware upgrade stopped working". Not sure what to do next. Attaching the file which shows the current available firmware upgrade.

Kindly help.

@ironass - Thanks for pointing me towards a possible solution. However, i am not facing the issue mentioned in the link you provided. Let me try out the option mentioned there and revert.
 
Hi,

I tried using the "Emergency Recovery" option but to no avail. I am attaching the screenshot of the error that i get while upgrading.
Hope somebody suggests a way out of this.

Thats a generic catch-all windows error message screen.
You wont have any luck there I'm afraid.

If I were you I would give up the ghost on Kies and flash the latest firmware via Odin.
 
@Hawker - Thanks for that information. In case i upgrade my firmware using Odin will my warranty be void? Will i be able to upgrade my device with the officially released firmware again, in case i need to do that?
It would also be great if you list out the cons of upgrading my device using Odin.

Theoretically yes it will. the whole subject of flashing/warranty is a grey area, as I've heard people who have had warranty claims succeed even after non-official updates have been carried out. But also theoretically, as long as you download your official carrier-specific firmware then you should be ok.
Personally I've not used Kies for months. I only ever update with Odin. The benefits are you can download what you want, when you want it. Latest official carrier-branded firmware usually takes months to filter into a Kies release.

Going through Odin will also allow you to root your device which opens up a whole new world to your GS2, but thats another story.

If your worried about warranty, you could always try sending your phone back as it seems all you've ever done in the past is used Kies, so there shouldn't be any issue in that regard.

Can anybody help me in getting this issue resolved please? I do not want to update using ODIN as i am worried about the warranty getting void.

Hi there. i am having the same problem with the Windows error message, and so would like to update via Odin instead. Where can I get the latest official firmware update in order to do this?
