Galaxy S2 firmware update

it confused me too. there's a post somewhere from slug explaining it all if you want to understand the Poland bit, otherwise just ignore it and flash. it works perfectly well in the UK and is official firmware
 
Great, thanks! Im updated now & running 2.3.4

The phone was previously a little laggy when switching screens & this has fixed that. No video chat in the talk app though :(
 
yeah, lots of people moan about this. apparently works in KG2 but removed on KG5. but battery better apparently on KG5, so depends what's more important to you. easy enough to try each for a while and see what you prefer.
 
Battery wasn't really an issue for me. With light use I can easily go 2 days, with heavy use I have about 15% left on an evening.

Will give this a go & seen as how easy it is to change, I might try the other in a week or so.
 
Hi Guys, I have read all above, followed instruction to flash in Odin to KG5. Went in to check "about phone" and it shows

2.3.4
I9100XXKG3
Kernel : 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKG5-CL420550
se.infra@SEP-41 #2
GINGERBREAD.XXKG3

I just wondered if I flashed to KG5 but why still shows in Baseband version/build number in KG3? Could anyone tell me if I have/haven't done anything?

im guessing u downloaded the KG5 stock kernel only (a 5 or 6mb file). u need to download the entire firmware file.. its a 260mb file. flash that and ur good.

Sydney99 has posted the link, in post #24. its the first link (OXA Poland), not the stock kernel :) cheers

Many thanks heshanj, I've done that, and my SGS2 shows XXKG5 on baseband version and Build number. :)

Have you found anything else, apart from the no google video chat, better battery life, that work better on this KG5 than the earlier ones? Thanks.

hmm not really :D somethings run a bit smoother, but i cant confirm that.. and its got a new power saving mode (system power saver) and its got an option to turn off the double tap home button feature. nothing major. the battery life is the biggest one for me
