Help Galaxy S2 Help....it's not running well

redgabe

Newbie
Hi all,

I bought a Galaxy S2 International edition about a month ago. I rooted it with Superone click. For the last few weeks I've been getting "the application ....has stopped unexpectedly" and have been forced to stop unexpectedly. I don't know what is going on. Below are my specs and some of the programs I run that I think may be causing the problems. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks

Android Version: 2.3.5
Baseband Version: I9100JHKI2
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100JHKJ1-CL641788 root@DELL157#2
Build Number: Gingerbread.jhkj1

Programs that I think are suspicious:
applanet market
GO Launcher EX
Titanium Backup
Widget Locker
JuiceDefender Ultimate
Watchdog
Smart Keyboard
Superuser
K-9 Email
3G Watchdog
Opera Mobile/Mini
Mini Info
Airdroid

The superoneclick method of rooting seems to cause loads of problems. Stop personally I would flash one of the 2.3.6 firmwares with odin from here
[ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH, KI, KJ, KK1/2/5, KL1/2/3, LA2 Download - xda-developers

This will replace your rooted firmware with a stock one therefore removing root. So you will then need to flash the cfroot kernel which matches your new firmware from here

Thanks Shotgun84,

Although this is a bit too technical for me. I still don't fully understand the difference between Rom, Firmware, cfroot kernel.

I know I rooted it, so now I could flash a new Rom on it, right? Why do I need a new Kernel?

Should I go up to ICS or wait for a official Rom from Samsung?

I'd prefer to flash on a Rom from Samsung but before Orange puts their crap on it. Is that possible?

The difference between superoneclick and cfroot is that superoneclick gives you root access by rooting your firmware whereas cfroot gives you a rooted kernel. So by flashing the stock firmware you will no longer be rooted so will need to instal the rooted kernel.
