galaxy s2 home button question

I have just got a new galaxy s2 after updating from a htc desire, up to now i am very happy with my upgrade :)

one question though is about the home button - if i am on say the 2nd or 3rd screen and open an app, after i have finished using it i press the home button but instead of it going back to the front home page (with the clock), it goes to the last screen i was on, say home screen 2 or 3 where that app was located.

maybe its just habbit from when i had the htc desire, with that phone anytime i pressed home it took me back to the very front page and i do like that, i feel thats how the home screen button should work, i dont want to press home, then have to press it again all the time for it to take me back home.

can i assign the button to behave in different ways, or is this just how this phone works?

thanks

james

i dont think you can.
but there's a solution:
there are different launchers, which i never tried, but i know for a fact that some of them, other then letting you use alot of new options for phone's behaviour, they let you choose a home page, and i think it should do it.
Try GO launcher, ADW launcher or LauncherPro

Usually from any home screen, if you press the home button, it goes to the first screen. I think maybe if you are using apps, it will go back to that home screen first. Can't recall since using Go Launcher now :D

Try pressing the home button again after reaching one of the home screen.

pinch the homescreen to get the zoomed out view, or press menu/edit then you will see one of the homescreens has a green symbol on it, simply press the homescreen you want the home button to return you to in the same place to move the green symbol to it. now that screen is your home. you can also rearrange the screens by dragging them about.

edit: sorry, the green symbol thing may not be in the stock touchwiz launcher, I am using GO Launcher, but the drag and drop reorder still works, so try that.

Carsngadgets, thanks for your reply, i have tried looking at what you have suggested, i can move the windows about etc.. i dont see any green symbol on any of the screens though.

when ever i press the home button it just always goes back to the last page i was on rather than the very first home screen with my clock on, which i would like it to do.

if i found what you are referring to would that fix my issue?

You won't find it, as the option doesnt exist in the stock launcher.
you need to use Go launcher for it.

As the name says home button it takes you home aka where u startet so if have a app open it takes you on the screen where this app is locketed. If you want to go back to main home screen just press it twice once you get to the apps home screen twice to the home screen of the phone.
