Help Galaxy S2 MTP Application Popup?

mkirpy22

Lurker
I bought the Galaxy S2 from Vodafone Australia on the $45 infinite plan. The phone is running Android 2.3.3, and my problems are as follows:

-the 'MTP Application' screen that comes up when plugged into a computer via the data cable pops up on my phone even though the phones not plugged in.
-Phone will not stay turned off, when i turn it off it automatically turns itself back on. Even if i take the battery out, and put it back in it will still turn itself back on. :(
-Sometimes when i turn the phone off, i get a screen with a flashing white and green battery icon with 5 white dots underneath, and then a flashing yellow triangle that indicates my battery is too hot even though the phone is cold. (or room temperature.)
-Sometimes i get a little green battery icon on the notification bar indicating that the battery is at 100% and that i should unplug the charger, even though the battery level was about 60% and was not plugged in.
-I've also had problems in the past of the phone getting VERY hot whilst playing games, and a lot of Force closes.

I'm thinking of taking the phone back to Vodafone to get it fixed, but was wondering if this is a common problem that may be fixed by the upcoming android 2.3.4 version (which isn't yet available here in Australia.)

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

i'd say u got a faulty phone, and a replacement should fix it. its not a common problem at all, but these issues ive read about on this forum, and i havent really seen any solution other than getting it replaced. the only issue that newer firmware will fix is the heat problem

MKirpy22, I am in Aus also. I would quiz Vodaphone also on what sort of crap-ware they install on the phone. I have an Optus branded unlocked SGS2 but I am using TPG. Optus and probably Vodaphone insist on loading all sorts of rubish into the phone ROM that you can't get rid of. At the very least that suck up data and battery for no useful purpose - but you never know how mature they are. My experience suggests they are poorly programmed in a hurray to get the phone to market, and not really interested in quality, or updating them.

TPG have a great new plan they have btw..1.5G data, $550 cap value for calls, text, MMS, international calls! with free tpg-tpg, free home calls and free access to FB, LI, TW, for $18 per month!)
