Otherwise, you'd have a killer phone which you would never want to upgrade! At least not for quite a while...
That's not in the manufacturers best interest. If you haven't noticed, they don't really do what their customers ask them to, they try to control the technological advances being put on the phone. This way, you get things when they're ready to give them to you, as long as their competitor doesn't catch wind of it and comes out with their own version first.
That's the only thing that keeps technological advances from trickling down even slower to you.
