Galaxy S3 and Mac

Hi all....New on here and looking for some advice.
Just to add some context...I have had samsung galaxy W and HTC desire S before. I moved to Apple iphone 4......but have made the switch to Galaxy S3....love the device but got a major problem I have not experiecned on other android devices....

WHen I connect to my Macboo pro (2mths old, Lion OS) it does not see my galaxy S3 or the 32GB SD card in it.... :(
This is a major issue for me as I like to transfer my photos and music via isyncr.

Would appreciate any suggestions.... this is the only blip with what appears to be a very fine device.....but it is a major flaw so far for me.

Thanks & regards to all....

Thanks....works.
Installed....then I had select PTP Camera use on S3. Then just drag n drop straight from itunes and iphoto.

Many thanks... :)

Same here.
Used AFT but had to enable PTP for it to work (Plug in phone>Pull down notification bar>Click the 'USB' item in there)

Cheers
Elbee

Same problem here, I gave up. I ended up using Wifi File Transfer Pro (99 cents in Play Store). It's as fast as cable transfer and it works perfectly. Other (free) FTP programs came with weird chinese notifications or with file-size limits. This app hasn't let me down so far.

Bloody Samsung! One of the things i really value in Android phones (compared to iPhones) is the ability to mount them as external drives rather than faff about with crap like iTunes. The S2 mounted perfectly as two drives on my MacBook. The S3 is a sodding nuisance.

yup, same here, sucks that it won't mount as a regular external drive,

read the above article PLEASE...its NOT Samsung...its Ice Cream Sandwich...

people truly need to take the time to actually read a thread before posting nonsense...

I've read the thread. AFT doesn't work since the latest update, which came via Kies. If it isn't Samsung's fault, then please feel free to transpose 'bloody Google' for 'bloody Samsung'. It's a shame that swearing at rude, arrogant idiots is banned on these forums; I've got a few words I'd like to share with you.

The problem with that is that i travel a fair amount and I've always found it very useful to be able to transfer files between my phone and my MacBook by cable. New that AFT has stopped working (and I've never been able to get Kies to connect), i don't have the option unless i use Bluetooth or find a hotspot. If Samsung, Google or whoever don't either fix this or supply a workaround then i may give up on the S3, because it's not worth the hassle. I'm starting to miss my S2.

Theirs no point in blaming its not like all your griping is going to fix this. No one is making you keep the s3 if you find it to big of a problem their are more phones on the market

Ah, yeah. I can see how discussing problems with the S3 on a forum devoted to the S3 would be inappropriate.

Totally.

today i walked in the store and hesitantly attempted to get the 2 year plan with the iphone5...i didnt buy it. the battery and micro sd played a big role on this decision.
the only reason i'd get the iphone5 is due to the convenience factor of mac compatibility

i've been doing some homework and here is what i got so far, please criticize with solid examples.

so, it is quite clear that the mac world suckers (like myself) that want the galaxyS3 will have to fiddle with tons of updates, upgrades, restarts, reconnects and more hair pulling nuisances inorder to fully 'enjoy' the advantages of the S3... or?

if all the compatibility issues of the S3 were to dissolve with the right software, the iphone would clearly be an inferior example of design today. with the only advantage to fit in 1 hand and be operated.

at the moment, i would stay away from the S3, because all that necessary software that makes life easier is not yet bulletproof. but i am sure that it will be quite a smooth ride for the S3 within the next 6months or so.

but i need a new phone now, a phone that will automatically sync with ical, itunes, mail, and all that stuff that i have to use.
