Help Galaxy S3 Launcher Not Responding

So my Galaxy S3’s launcher, both the TouchWiz (native) and GO Launcher EX have started to crash, seemingly at random. I get the ‘GO Launcher EX is not responding.’ ‘Close or Wait?’ When that happened a few times, I decided to try running the native TouchWiz, but it happened with that too, only with TouchWiz is not responding as the message instead.

Closing it just freezes the phone with a blank, black display and the Menu and Back buttons lit up.

The only thing that gets it out of the frozen state is a hard restart (removing and replacing battery).

It has done this while I’m texting, while I’m driving and listening to a podcast, while it’s in my pocket idle, and while charging. I’ve used 2 different (OEM) batteries and not seen a difference.
I uninstalled all recently installed apps and I’m only running one app that isn’t “trusted.” The crashing happened long after I started using it.

Has anyone seen this issue and / or know what the cause and solution are? Factory data reset is a last resort.

hmmm....I would suggest either disable that "untrusted" app just to see if perhaps it isn't starting to misbehave?
Otherwise, I assume you are not rooted, but you can still boot into the stock recovery and clear cache and dalvik from there and reboot to see if that changes your issue. :)

Correct, I'm not rooted. How do I boot into the stock recovery?

I cleared cache. Is there a tutorial for how to dalvik after clearing cache? I'm clearly not as advanced a user.

Also, I forgot to mention that I tried to install a few untrusted apps that showed up as possible threats, then deleted the files. Is there a good malware scanner?

If anyone is curious, or experiencing a similar problem, I uninstalled GO Power Manager and it seems to have solved the problem. It was likely clashing with another application.
