TotalONE

Lurker
Good day androidians :).
I got new galaxy s3 t999l its for tmobile 4g lte.
I don't have multi task option on it... what I mean by that is when I use two apps on same screen. I did checked setting and optiont multi screen is not there :(.

Anyone knows how to fix this issue?

Multi-window (not multi-screen) is a feature that comes with the 4.1.2 jelly-bean update.

You mentioned "I did checked setting and optiont multi screen is not there".

Pull down the status bar at the top of the screen. If you don't have the "multi-window" option at the top/right side when you pull down the status bar, then maybe you don't have the latest 4.1.2 update.

Go to menu/settings/about device/ and look for "Android version". If you do not have version 4.1.2, then go to menu/settings/System Update/ and try to update the software and Firmware.

After that you should be able to select multi-window from the status bar, and activate it by holding down the back-arrow button for two seconds.

I have 4.1.2 version, tried doing update says its up to date, should I try though keys or whatever that app called.

Be aware that on an unrooted s3, theres only a few compatible apps you can use with it.
When you hold the back button, it will show itself as a blue semi-circle at the left that you can drag out then drag apps from it onto the screen

Multi-window is part of Android 4.1.2 so you seem to have the correct Android version. Just to be clear, lets go over this again...

First go to your home screen, then pull down the "status bar" at the top of the screen.

At the top of the screen, you should see on/off toggles for wi-fi, bluetooth, GPS, vibrate, and screen rotation. These are just above the brightness control.

Slide those toggles to the left to see more. After screen rotation, you should see five more toggles, maybe more. On my Sprint GS3, the multi-window toggle is next to the last one on the right, between Airplane mode and Sync. This needs to be green. Do you see this when you slide the toggles to the left? This needs to be there and needs to be green before you hold down the back arrow.

Also you can turn on multi-window by going to home/menu/settings/display and place a check in the multi-window box. Do you have this option?

Multi-window only supports 13 apps on my phone and I never use it. But it is kinda cool to show your friends.

I thought every carrier had that update by now....
Go to Settings, About Phone, Check For Updates

Where did you get your phone? Did you buy it brand new directly from T-Mobile? Or did you buy it from somewhere else? Does everything else work? Are you able to connect to the T-Mobile network to make phone calls and go on the internet?

Maybe you can call T-Mobile and ask them why no multi-window. Better yet, take it to a T-Mobile store.

You also might try a factory reset. Just remember that this will wipe out your files so proceed carefully.

Yes, I bought this phone from Tmobile. I really don't want to deal with them right now though, they are so annoying, btw I got 4g LTE version of S3. Do you think its something that have to do with that?

The T-Mobile branded T999L LTE version does not come with the Multi-Window. It should be in the 4.3 update coming soon.
