I wouldn't worry about ram and task managers. Android does a fantastic job with ram. Unused ram is wasted ram.:)
I need to find that link that gtbarry posts about task managers etc....nice, informative link.

Mine runs at about 1.1GB or so..no worries:)
Let me see if I can find that a sec ;)

Yeah check that thread out. it will save me from re-writing what i wrote lol. some great posts on there
Put it this way though.. whats the point in having a phone with a huge 2gb memory if you only let it use a quarter of it lol? :)

Apparently the RAM management on the S3 is terrible, causing a lot of UI lag. I see a lot of people saying "Unused RAM is wasted RAM" is this really true? Or does the RAM managment on the S3 work differently compared to windows. I'm a computer technician, and that certainly isn't the case. On my S3, when I have 700+ RAM being used, when having multiple apps opened, usually some apps automatically close down to free up some memory causing the phone to lag quite a lot, especially when multi-tasking.

Personally, I don't think that the ram usage is related to lag. I have no lag on my device and like I posted earlier, I'm running over 1GB ram. ;)
Could it be something else is causing lag? And what is lagging on your device? Window transition? App switching?
Here is another article, albeit a couple years old, about ram...:)

RAM: What it is, how it's used, and why you shouldn't care | Android Central

Like i said in the other thread, my international (1gb) s3 runs perfectly with 90mb free ram. When things lag, i clear the app cache

In my opion, the international S3 should of had 2GB of RAM, it definatly was nessecary, because of the new os's like "Jelly Bean" which uses a ridiculous amount of RAM, resulting in truly awful multi-tasking. I have no idea why Samsung didn't release the international version with 2GB, maybe they realised they screwed up and then decided to release a 2GB variant with a dual core processor

Nah i disagree man. My 1gb has never been pushed to its limit by any normal use, even in benchmarks it out performs the US ones. 2gb would have future proofed it more though
If youre having multitask issues then i doubt its the hardware. Lesser phones can handle JB fine. Mine flys on 4.3. What firmware/rom are u using?

I take back what I said, I just flashed CM10.2, and I love it!

10.2 is still very early on.

If you run into bugs try 10.1 before throwing in the towel on AOSP :D

As you see, its touchwiz that's bloated and slow, not jellybean!

Yeah im stickin to 4.2 for now. The rom im using is lush. Ive tried a few 4.3 roms though and theyre developing fast. PA are doing well. CM is just a bit plain for me
