Galaxy S3 vs. ZTE ZMAX

I've had my Metropcs Samsung Galaxy S3 (which is rooted) for a couple years but I'd like to get an affordable phablet. I noticed that Metropcs has a special on the ZTE ZMAX for $99 in store after instant rebates.

I was wondering if besides the ZMAX having a larger screen, would that phone overall be a downgrade from my S3? Is it noticeably slower, does it overheat, etc?

Seems pretty equal specs to the US s3 (does the s3 have snapdragon 400 cpu or 600?)
Micro SD slot
Much bigger battery.
2gb ram.
Seems an OK phone for the price.
Clocked at 1.2ghz which is slower than the s3 and it has higher resolution display so more pixels to push.
Hope someone else can chime in

If you're willing to spend a bit more ($300 I think) the OnePlus One is a much more powerful phablet

I would like to add that the ZTE Zmax has no bloatware unlike the Galaxy S3. Coming from the S3 to the Zmax it does seem snapper then the S3.

I like to mention since you had your S3 rooted. The bootloader on the Zmax is locked and ZTE has no plans to unlock it. There are some people on xda-developers that are trying to get it on unlocked, so far it's been unsuccessful. I don't know how important rooting is for you. Also there is a Zmax community on Google+. You may like to check out.
