Galaxy S3 wifi Problems resolved

Well I'm new here to start off, but I bought a Galaxy S3 from verizon today. Got home and the wifi was not working. It would log onto the wifi correctly but wouldn't upload/download media for apps and such. So I tinkered around on the web searching to no extent to find the problem. I found nothing. So heres how I fixed mine.

I have a Belkin router. I went into the router settings and inputted the phones MAC settings into the routers MAC settings. I also noticed the IP address was different inside the Route setting compared to my phones IP address. I had my cousin come over who owns his own Internet company thinking my router wasn't right. But I bought it the night before. So under the routes IP address it showed up with with the last number .254 when my phones showed a .2. I simply changed the .254 to a .2 and boom wifi works perfectly now. I also disabled some firewall features through my router. If this doesn't help then I dont know what to tell you. Its not really the phone but you have to figure out your router settings to correctly correspond with your phone.

Hello fastfox, welcome to AF! And a great, helpful first post if I do say so myself. I moved it to the Samsung Galaxy S3 forum where others with your phone will see it. Thanks for joining up! :)

Let me also add the channel was set to auto, wap settings were set to the phones security settings etc. As far as I can tell the MAC settings and the IP have to be matched from your phone to your Router. I tried all the other settings in my router and had a dumb moment and thought about checking the phone out. The *#0011# you dial does no work dont bother trying it. After this was done my router symbol on my tool bar shows it went from blue to orange and needs "fixed". But everything works fine the gs3, xbox, pc, laptop, and other android phone all work. So i opt'd out to fixing the problem with it whatever it could be fearing my galaxy would never see wifi again. I also advise if you're going to disable your routers firewall; that you have a good one on your pc.
