Help Galaxy s4 Keyboard problem

xxArmando

Newbie
Hello everyone , first of all I would like to point out that this problem happens with multiple keyboard apps, as well as the integrated one. Every time I type something it types multiple letters like lets say I type: "Hello" it would type something like "Hellllllllo" It currently happens with ,jelly bean keyboard, google keyboard and stock keyboard.

I would also like to note that I have the galaxy s4 active with a Otterbox defender case. I don't know if the fact that the defender case has a built in screen protector might affect that? I had an Iphone 4s before and same case but it wouldn't type multiple letters, so i doubt it's the case.

Im fairly new to android but I'm loving it so far.

Have you tried the fairly obvious experiment of taking your phone out of the case and seeing whether the problem still occurs?

My guess is that it is the case.

I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S4 active (AT&T SGH-i357 ) and I noticed the same problem. On the Samsung, I've used both the Samsung and the Swype keyboard
and had the same issue.
I'm also using an Otterbox Defender. I just came back from taking this phone in to the AT&T store and the rep I spoke with never heard of that problem.

He did recomment SwiftKey Keyboard and it seems to have the problem a bit less, but as was suggested above, I'll take the phone out of the OtterBox and try it as well.

I switched the keyboard, loaded in a different rom (There's a way to load it on top of your existing rom with the I-537) Still had the same problem.
Removed the case from OtterBox, problem solved!

In my case, it was the OtterBox, not sure why though.
