Galaxy S4 Kit Kat?

So they started selling the Galaxy S4 for T-Mobile at Walmart recently for 300 dollars... I think it still says it comes with Android 4.2.2 though.

If I buy this phone is it possible to upgrade to Kit Kat?
 
instructions to the over the air update:
1. click setting, then click the "more" tab
2. scroll down and find "about phone"
3. and you have arrived at your destination. Click "software update" and follow from there.

Also another question... Does it matter what carrier I use in order to get the update? Because it is a T-Mobile phone but I will be using it with Metro PCS.
 
Yes, an example of it. Will be when I got my phone which is an at&t phone;and I unlocked (gsm unlock) so I can switch metro pcs. My phone wouldn't update anymore over the air. Neither Kies 3 would update it. So before you get the unlock code make sure you update it. Also, when you buy the phone, the phone might already been updated to the latest software. Which is 4.4.4! To check it... it will be on setting, the more tab, click about phone. And see android version :) for more help just let me know!
 
From what I gathered, Kies customer service told me that Kies (the program doesn't recognize the phone nor the software update itself; on the phone). But this might just be my phone! So you will need to experience if first handed with yours.
 
Well actually, if it makes a difference, I don't have to unlock the phone at all because Metro and T-Mobile are the same network.
 
Man that sucks :( I'd like to be able to get to a newer version of android with a phone that's actually good and without having to buy a phone that's 600+ dollars. I guess I'll see what happens. I wonder if I could when first purchasing the phone connect to Wifi and see if I can update it if it's not on there and then to go Metro?
 
Nevertheless, if doesn't work.ill help you root your phone/flash your phone....or direct you to the forums where it can help you update your phone. So you're in good hands either way..

I have a Metro S4, rooted and would like to update to Kit Kat, can you help me with that?
 
If you're phone version or model number is SGH-m919n?

Then have you tried (OTA)---which means over the air update?
Instructions:
1. Settings
2. Click more tab
3. Scroll down find "about phone" and click It
4. Click software update!

You should be able to get it! If you don't! Try Kies3?

If that doesn't work... Then we'll try a more aggressive way!? :) okay
