Help Galaxy S4 shorting out

Esconodo

Lurker
Hi all! I've searched but either a) nobody has posted about this or b) I'm not using the right keywords.

Anyways, over the last week I've had some strange issues with my s4. I'll be using it and if there is music playing, there will be a "pop" from the device, not like a notification sound, more of a 'physical' pop. Immediately after I lose sound output, the phone will freeze and then switch off within ten or so seconds. Afterwards the phone won't turn on unless connected to the charger. This happens anywhere below %40 battery and there is no low battery warning beforehand.

It happens most often when playing The Simpsons Tapped Out but does occur pretty much whenever it wants. The phone is in great condition, never been exposed to water or extreme temperature and I'm really quite irritated...

Anyone else had this problem or know of a fix? If not, am I better off going to my service provider or straight to Samsung? Thanks guys!

This does sound like a hardware fault to me. I have been reading this forum more or less since it started and I don't recall anyone else having this issue.

I presume you got the phone from Telstra so I suggest you return it to them and make a warranty claim. Most likely they will either give you a replacement or send it to Samsung for repair. I doubt Samsung would allow you to send it to them directly.
